The Lotus Blossom Shawl (finished size using DK weight yarn 70" across top edge x 35" from neck to longest point, finished size using lace weight yarn 68" across top edge x 34" from neck to longest point) uses two traditional Shetland lace patterns, Razor Shell and Madeira Wave, to create the suggestion of graceful lotus blossoms on long stems. The shawl is worked by casting on three stitches at the middle top of the shawl, and then increasing down the center and side edges to create a triangular shape, ending with bobbles at the bottom edge. This pattern has instructions with large, easy-to-use charts.
Recommended for advanced beginner or intermediate knitters, the shawl can be knit in multiple gauges, using 750 yards of DK weight (21-23 st/4") or 786 yards of lace weight (33-40 st/4") yarn.
Soft and luxurious, our Baby Lace Merino and Silken Kydd Version was knit by Flora Yang holding 1 strand of lace weight with 1 strand of fine mohair. She used just 2 balls of Baby Lace Merino and 4 balls of Silken Kydd.
