Hi, and thanks,
According to the pattern, it says to knit 6 extra stitches on the left side to accomodate the leaf pattern. I started with the first 12 cast on, 1 selvage stitch, 4 stitches( 1 for each section) the 6 extra stitches, and the last 1 selvage stitch. Slip the first stitch purlwise on every row, work the pattern, then the 6 extra, and knit the last selvage stitch. The pattern says it is worked in sections, but not that each section is worked separately and sewn together. It looks like, and according to the pattern, the sections are worked in a row. It's also hard to tell from the picture if the shawl is straight across the top, or if there is some curve for around the neck. With the 6 extra stitches on the left side, it is lop sided. I tore it out a couple times already thinking I did something wrong, but it came out the same way when I started again. I read the pattern over, and over.... Then I began to consider that there was an error in the pattern. I checked for corrections but didn't find any. So that's my story. Unless I am reading the pattern wrong, or not understanding it, any help is appreciated. Thanks so much!

Hi Phyllis,

You'll be automatically entered in the monthly draw so long as you are both signed up to receive both our Update and Preview emails and you have made a purchase during the month.

Good luck in our next draw!

I have a LOT of yarn from Elann and have said, "No more." Never say never because I couldn't reisist ordering Insense Full Bag Blow Out a few minutes ago.
??? On the order form, I couln't figure out how to enter the Elann monthly draw. Is my order automatically entered in the monthly draw. (I checked, "your account" and the order form, but couldn't box to enter the monthly draw.
Just so you'll know that I have a sense of humor, I used a credit, so my $ balance is the lowest of any order I have placed with Elann, so I'm sure I'll win....

Is there an error in the direction for the birds nest smoke ring? Row 7 reads:
yo, PM, k1, ssk, RM at the very end.
Since you are placing a marker at the END of each row shouldn't this read:
yo, RM, k1, ssk, PM
Row 13 is similar but it has you removing the marker then replacing it at the end.

Hello,

the instructions for rows 7 and 13 are correct and the markers are moved as the repeat point is also being moved.

You'll actually use 2 markers for row 7 - first placing a new marker, and then removing your old marker.
On row 13, you remove your marker, work the k1, ssk, and then place the marker for the new beginning of the round.

Please feel free to post here, or email us at customerservice@elann.com if you have any further questions.

Best wishes,
Angela

Hi Bets,

I didn't buy any of the bag wool, but I'll check and see what the others think and let you know!

No, I'm still holding out from joining Facebook. I spend so much time at Ravelry.... The Peacock Plumes cardi is nearly done. There's a photo of the unblocked body up in my projects page. I get distracted by other projects.

Hi Rebecca,

Whenever I like a free pattern that is offered online, I save a copy of it in a Word file for future use. I did save a copy for this Katia Swing cardigan, I have attached in pdf format. Enjoy, I bought the Katia Swing yarn last summer and I am still to knit it!

Well I hate to keep tooting my own horn, Barbara, as I'm publishing a new one essentially every week.

BUT, I do always post about it on Facebook when a new one comes out - with a link to it in About.com and Ravelry (where the pics are better). Are you on FB? I couldn't find you - I'm Eileen Casey there.

Topic: Herrschners White 2-ply Afghan Yarn - Need 1 Skein

A lady I know ordered a Herrschners afghan kit several years ago. She couldn’t figure out the pattern, so I am making the afghan for her. Over the years, we are short one skein of white yarn. I am looking for ANY remnants of Herrschners 2-ply (sport weight) white afghan yarn. It must be the “older” variety, with the Herrschners name running the length of the skein. I will gladly pay for the yarn and the shipping. It must be white (no off-whites). I am within 11 rows of finishing this afghan, 6 of which are white, and I desperately need this yarn. Can you help?

FYI. The newer Herrschners yarn is lighter weight, and can’t be used with the older yarn. I’ve already tried the easy route of just ordering another skein. The newer yarn has the Herrschners name wrapped around the skein.

I will certainly accept partial skeins. I doubt I can trade, but I can certainly buy and pay shipping. Please let me know what you have. Thanks!!
