Size:
To fit bust 86/ 92 cm [34"/ 36"], 97/ 102cm [38"/ 40"] and 107/ 112cm [42"/ 44"]. Directions for the smaller size are before the stroke, with larger sizes behind. If there is only one figure, it applies to all sizes.
All measurements are in centimeters (cm). For approximate inch sizes simply multiply by 0.4 (or divide by 2.54).
Materials:
10, 11, 12 balls of Schachenmayr Brillant (56% Nylon/ 26% Rayon/ 18% Acrylic Microfibre, 98 yards, 50g/ ball)
4-5 mm [US 6-8] needles and same size circular needle 40 cm long, or size to obtain gauge.
Fantasy pattern:
No. of sts. mult of 6 + 2 sts. + 2 edge sts.
Row 1: K.
Row 2: edge st., K1, *K1 winding yarn around needle twice (= yarn-over), rep from *,end with K1, edge st.
Row 3: edge st., K1, *in order slip 6 sts. onto RH needle, letting yarn-overs slide off the needle and pulling sts. up, now slip the first of these 3 over the last 3 sts., then slip rem 3 sts. back onto LH needle and work K1 and K1 tbl into each st. (= 6 sts.), rep from *,end with K1, edge st.
Row 4: K.
Rep rows 1-4 throughout for patt.
Stockinet stitch (st-st):
K RS rows; P WS rows; in rounds K all sts.
Gauge:
19-20 sts. and 26 rows st-st, each to 10 cm [4"].
METHOD
Back:
Cast on 94(106/118) sts. and K 1 WS row, then work 12 rows fantasy patt and K 2 rows = about 6 cm in height.
Cont in st-st.
When work measures 60 cm bind off for armholes at each end of every 2nd row 3(4/5) sts. once, 2 sts. once and 1 st. 5 (6/ 7) times = 74 (82/ 90) sts.
When work measures 78 (80/ 82) cm bind off 24 (26/ 28) sts. at center for neck and finish each side sep. At neck edge bind off on every 2nd row 4 sts. once, 2 sts. Once and 1 st. once.
At the same time, when work measures 80 (82/ 84) cm bind off at each outer edge for shoulders on every 2nd row 6 (7/ 8) sts. 3 times.
Front:
Proceed as for back except for neck. When work measures 68 (70/ 72) cm bind off 14 (16/ 18) sts. at center for neck and finish each side sep. At neck edge bind off on every 2nd row 3 sts. once, 2 sts. twice and 1 st. 5 times.
When work measures 80(82/84) cm shape shoulders on either side as for back.
Sleeves (make 2 alike):
Cast on 64 (70/ 76) sts. and K 1 WS row, then work 4 rows fantasy patt and K 2 rows = about 2 cm in height.
Cont in st-st. At the same time inc for sleeve shaping at each end 1 st. on every 4th row 2 (1/ 0) times, and 1 st. on every 2nd row 4 (6/ 8) times = 76 (84/ 92) sts.
When work measures 9 cm bind off for sleeve cap at each end 3 (4/ 5) sts. once, then on every 2nd row 2 sts. twice, 1 st. 15 times, 2 sts. once and 3 sts. once.
When work measures 24 cm bind off rem 22 (28/ 34) sts.
Finishing:
Block pieces to measurements, cover with a damp cloth and allow to dry.
Join all seams, leaving about 20 cm open at lower end of left side seam for slit, then sew sleeves in position.
Pick up about 140 (144/ 152) sts. around neck edge with the circular needle and work alt P 1 round and K 1 round. After 6 rounds bind off all sts. purlwise.
