By Christie Pruitt
May/June Design Contest Silver Winner

Materials:
- elann.com Luna - 2 balls each of the following colors: Shimmering Cherise, Zen Red, Raspberry Wine, Wood Violet, Regal Orchid, Purple Heart (12 balls total). Note: Some of these colors are now discontinued, so please feel free design your own colorway!
- Size “H” Crochet Hook

Finished Measurements:
18” x 56” after wet blocking

Gauge:
1 motif should measure 6” x 5.5” after blocking.

Designer’s Notes:
Do not be intimidated by the number of motifs that are required to make this wrap. The pattern for the motifs is so easy to commit to memory, you will be free to make several of them while watching t.v. Plus the amazing colors of Luna will make it even more enjoyable! So sit back, whip up a few motifs, and before you know it, you’ll have enough to complete this stunning wrap.

Pattern Notes:
Always sl st into the 2nd ch of the beg ch 3 on round 2 of the Motif and the Single Bud Motif in order for the bud to “pop-up”.

Instructions:
You will make 45 total motifs. Make 6 of the following colors: Shimmering Cherise, Zen Red, Raspberry Wine, Regal Orchid. Make 10 Wood Violet and 11 Purple Heart.

Stitches:
5 Treble Cluster: * yo twice, insert hook into indicated st, pull loop through, [yo, pull loop through 2 loops] twice, rep from * 4 times more (6 loops on hook). End by yo, pull a loop through all 6 loops on hook. 4 Treble Cluster: * yo twice, insert hook into indicated st, pull loop through, [yo, pull loop through 2 loops] twice, rep from * 3 times more (5 loops on hook). End by yo, pull a loop through all 5 loops on hook.

Motif: Round 1: ch 6, join with sl st to first ch to form a ring.
Round 2: ch 3, dc in ring, * ch 1, dc in ring, rep from * around 6 times. End ch 1, join in 2nd ch of beg ch 3.
Round 3: working behind last round and INTO base ring, ch 3, sl st in between next 2 dc’s *ch 6, sl st in between next 2 dc’s, rep from * 6 times, end ch 6, sl st into first sl st of round.
Round 4: ch 1, sl st in first ch 6 sp, ch 4, work 4 Treble Cluster in same sp, *ch 8, work 5 Treble Cluster in next ch 6 sp, rep from * around, end ch 8, sl st to top of beg cluster.
Round 5: ch 1, *6 sc, ch 2, 6 sc all into ch 8 sp, rep from * around. Join in beg ch 1.

A Note On Joining: The joins of these motifs will have lots of stress placed on them as you wear the wrap. Gravity will help pull them and stretch them. I recommend joining by cutting a 6” strand of yarn and tying a double knot at your join, then weaving each strand of the yarn in opposite directions, on the wrong side of the work.
To Join: You will make 15 total strips, 3 motifs wide. Refer to chart for assembly.

As you have probably noticed, once all of the motifs have been joined, there’s large spaces formed in between each motif. Fill in these spaces with the following pattern:

Single Bud Motif:
Round 1: ch 6, join with sl st to first ch to form a ring.
Round 2: ch 3, dc in ring, * ch 1, dc in ring, rep from * around 6 times. End ch 1, join in 2nd ch of beg ch 3.
Round 3: working behind last round and INTO base ring,*ch 4, sl st to a ch 2 sp of a motif, ch 4, sl st in same sp as first sl st, sl st in next sp between next 2 dc’s, sl st in next sp, rep from * 3 more times. Fasten off.

Finishing:
Wet block wrap by pinning to 18” x 56” measurements and allowing to dry.

Variations:
There are, of course, limitless possibilities with this wrap in the way of color choice. One possibility would be to eliminate the Shimmering Cherise/Zen Red/Raspberry Wine colorway, and repeat the Wood Violet/Regal Orchid/Purple Heart colorway. You could also do a kaleidoscope of colors and use every color of the rainbow, or tone down the colors for a more neutral wrap and do a mix of White/Cream/Tan. Let your imagination guide you!

Abbreviations:
beg
- beginning, ch - chain, dc - double crochet, rep - repeat, sl st - slip stitch, sp - space, st - stitch, yo - yarn over.
