Designed by Susan Pierce Lawrence, the Fountain Pen Shawl is a light and lacy shawl knit from the neck down to the bottom edge in a pattern resembling fountain pen nibs, and the overall size can be simply adjusted by working more or fewer repeats of the body chart before beginning the border chart. With a finished size of 78" across the top and 39" at the longest point, it uses 1 skein of Lornas Laces Helens Lace (50% silk/ 50% wool - lace weight - 33-40 st/4" - 1250 yards per 113g skein) or 1250 yards of substitute yarn of similar gauge and weight.

Megan knit our sample following the pattern as written and found she used less than 2 balls of elann.com Peruvian Baby Lace Merino. It is easy to adjust the overall size by working more or fewer repeats of the body chart before beginning the border chart, a larger shawl will require extra yarn.
