Fall Elann Knit-In
|
The suggestion has been made that we hold the knit-in early to mid-November and we spend a day helping me sort and pack the Dorcas knitting for the North. [My children and their friends would be delighted to have a year`s reprieve from the task - must say though that Christian is a whiz at putting together layettes.] How do you feel about this time? I probably cannot get the farmhouse for this late in the year, but you could all stay at my house and maybe with my neighbours - for a reduced rate as I would not have to pay the rent for the farmhouse.
Dates are a bit of an issue this year as we won`t be back from Wales until the 7th or 8th of October. Dorcas packing is usually the weekend around November 11th - the final collection of articles is at deanery meetings the first week in November and this gives the post office time to deliver the bales in the hinterland before the Christmas rush.
Let me know so that we can plan ahead.

New free pattern from Berroco

Good looking top- I`m thinking DD might really like it.
I`ve used Zodiac - knitted a modular shawl in the black/cream/taupe/scarlet colourway for DD`s roommate in Singapore. It`s a sophisticated, dressy yarn with sheen and from I remember was quick to knit - had to get that Christmas box off early. The girls were trying to look 30 as each was by far the youngest teacher in her school - hence a touch of sophistication for these two Canadian outdoorsy girls.

Well worth having a look at. Green cabled sweater definitely needs to be longer for anyone over 15 - easy to do, just more yarn.

Benne:

Benne, for the purl 5 together, did you try: slip 4 stitches onto right hand needle, purl the next stitch, pass the 4 slipped stitches, one at a time, over the stitch just purled and off the needle. As long as I do them all the same way, the decreases look fine. I can keep a more even tension than with trying to move five stitches at once.
