Philosopher`s Wool addiction
|
I am afraid that I am addicted - I can`t seem to help myself. E-bay notifies me whenever there is a PW listing and I can`t seem to help myself. Bought another kit for a Kilim Jacket in the Fall colorway. Not sure I will use the yarn for that pattern or one of the others. I hauled out the one I am making for my DB, but have so many deadlines the next few weeks..... but the end is in sight!!!!! Then I can really get knitting.

Very Nice, Laura!

The shawl looks like it would wear well - looks comfortable. Amazing that you could do that in 4 days! I like the baby set also. What was the stich gauge for that?

Throwing versus Wrapping
|
Interesting - Didn`t know there was something called twisted stockinette! For years my stitches were twisted. I think I was in college when I realized this and broke that habit and got it straight. That was a long time ago, I think I was wrapping the yarn the wrong way. I carry my yarn in my left hand - is that Continental?? I always call it the German way.

Teen Knitting Club book a hit with DGD
|
It warms my heart to know that some girls still can find the time and interest to learn to knit! Now days there are so many `other` distractions. My DD learned to knit, felt and spin, and is really quite good at it, but right now she doesn`t do any of it. But, I know she knows how, and someday, hopefully, she will enjoy these things once again.

Watching a garden that you have worked so hard on, go to pots due to the lack of rain (that you have no control over) is definately enough to make anyone a desparate woman(or man). I can only imagine how farmers must feel when their livelyhood depends on it! We are in need of rain here also, but not as badly as you all. I think I made it rain the other day, by taking the time to water my plants. A few hours later, we had a little rain storm! Washing the car sometimes works also. I keep hoping for a hurricane/tropical storm to brush by us bringing some good rain.

Benne - No abuse here... One of the classes we had to take during my master`s program delt with diversity and we studied the Indian culture. It was so very interesting to me. There are so many things that people do not understand about it. Misconceptions. We live near Hollister and their school is 45% Indian - Haliwa Saponi tribe.

OK I am a fairly new cat person. My mama cat likes to watch TV and the curser on my computer. Bet she would like such a tape. Where do you get these? and is one better than another?? While we are talking cats - any suggestions as to other things such a food, litter etc? My cats are indoor cats. How about how to teach them not to jump on the stove or kitchen cabinets??? I saw little plastic nail caps advertised. Have you ever used them?

Carol, I am sorry about your cat. I always say that God somehow made one mistake when he created the universe and that was making our pets live such a short time in comparison to our lives. We have to say good bye too many times during our lives to beloved pets.

I didn`t see a whole lot of choice of the kitten food - a friend of mine feeds Iams and his cat in the last 6 months has grown so big and has a beautiful black coat. She is gorgeous. I do feed them a can of food/day also. I heard on a tv program not to feed fish! It was a vet speaking and said there was some problem they could develop, so now I only buy the beef, chicken, turkey, liver etc. I have been trying different brands, and so far I didn`t like 9-lives. I am glad you said something about the clumping kind of litter - that was the first kind I tried. Didn`t ever think about ingesting it. Also tried the pine chips. I have already bought the water spray bottle. Will try the sticky tape. Will check out the web site also. Thanks for your help.

Final assignment submitted!!!!

It feels so good to have everything done and sent in!!! That is for the master`s degree. In the fall will have to do a practicum if I want to be certified to teach it. Now I have a few weeks to get my summer projects done. Read a book, knit, sew, spin, paint etc. etc. I feel so free.

Thanks everyone! I actually just went back to get my masters to give me a 10% raise. It is in elementary educ. but it is in gifted education. With the laws changing, they are going to need teachers with this type of certification. Jamie, I think my greatest challenge is still ahead of me. I have been going to specialists the last few months and my Dr. and all the others say I really don`t have much choice but to have very extensive radical spine surgery. If not I will end up in a wheel chair and unable to breath well etc. I can really see my mobility going down hill. Anyway, we are trying to decide where would be the best place to have this surgery done.
