Jayne - Knit Books
|
Thank you for replying. Yes, it is Birds Nest Shawl, and it IS in Folk Shawls.
I`ve ordered Not your Mamas Knitting, along with Yarnplay and Hip Knit Hats. Will be fun getting those in the house. I may order the rest from KnitPicks but am in no hurry (some books in Elann are no longer in stock right now, so I may hold off till those show up.)
I picked up Mason Dixon Knitting tonight at the library. Will make that my bedtime story and see if thats worth buying.
Hope to see you Wed night. Again, I may show up at the latter part of the eve.

Hallowe`en Action About to Begin...
|
Only 35 came to the door this year. The numbers are shrinking year to year. We live in a deep culdesac that was very active in earlier years. Never had more than 50 though, I dont think

I so want to be this clever-----
|
Oh, so adorable!!
She put thought to the background - it looks just like water with shells on the bottom. I want to know what yarns she used for both the fish AND the shawl. I`ve posted her a comment to ask that question. We`ll see if we get an answer somehow... I really like the idea of the changing denim color...

Les, About SWS slippers...
|
Hi Jayne! Its good to see you back. i read your post of your experience in Tofino. Sounds heavenly to me.
I haven`t been on the computer for a week. Girls are using it more and more for their homework. L is doing lots of research on universities as she is in grade 12!
I was wondering about the SWS... the one scarf I`m making is very wide and I am wondering if I should make it really long and felt it. Would that be too stiff for around the neck? SWS is delicious to work with. I still have a ways to go. I`ve not been knitting.. my hands are suffering from the onset of arthritis - I spend too much time driving my car and signing all day. Am starting to think about getting a new car with power steering and am looking for ways to take more breaks for my hands.
See you soon,
Suzie

Who is knitting today??
|
Pout, how I WISH I was staying home. At noon I have to take DD to her soccer game way over in N. Van. I`ll bring my knitting, which is the SMS scarf - hope for a good view from the car. The field could be flooded over and game could be cancelled. Unfortunately the umpire makes that decision at game time. I am NOT happy about traveling the distance (45 min each way) as the roads have been miserable all week.

I WISH I knit that vest. Would be so wonderful wearing it instead of thinking about it!
Laughing at your slip on the tongue, Grace. Cute.

How I spent my afternoon or how to almost burn your house down-OT
|
What a freaking scare. I havent been near Elann for days as Ive been battling a cold for a week. Got my first laptop and have been trying to get used to it as well. I`m very awkward with the keyboard but Im sure that`ll pass.
I agree, you probably saved alot of people reading this. As most of you know, I was born with hearing loss. Deaf people are known to flood their kitchens because we dont hear the water running when we walk away for something and forget we`ve left it on. A friend of mine who worked at a school for the deaf did it, and the water flowed over night. The school was just built and it was a terrible embarrassment for her. The classroom had to close for a week while fans were brought in for drying.
Some of us dont hear whistles either. I also have a electric teakettle just for safetys sake. I`ve burned a teapot one too many times.

Elann Highland Wool/Stitch n Bitch
|
Hello, My daughter is wanting to knit her first sweater featured in Stitch and Bitch: the knitters handbook. It is a Skully pattern (page 190) that calls for a gauge of 13" and 20 rows = 4" in St st. I am stumped as to which wool to order for her. I am guessing Chunky would work, and she can do a swatch and check the gauge. Also wondering if I can get help on how many skeins to get. Would be very much appreciated.
Very eager to order as she wants to knit over christmas break where she`ll be supported by G`ma who can guide her when she gets into a bind. She is a better (and faster) knitter than me, having done cables and emblems! She can do this!
Many thanks in advance. I`ll post once she completes this project!

Thank you so much Billie!
I`ve been sick in bed all week. Hence the reason for not being so attentive lately. I`m about to put in the order - and I did find your input useful.
