Reason for Silence Bravo! Someone who is willing to stand by their convictions is becoming more and more rare these days and I applaud you. That is one of the reason`s that I no longer work outside of the home.
I may have mentioned this before, not sure, but several years ago my DH filed a suit with EEOC. When it was deemed that he had a case he was advised to hire a lawyer, but he did not. When he took the stand in court the judge asked him what it would take to settle the case DH looked at the judge and said you think this is about money? This is not about money, it is about treating people, all people, with dignity. Everyone in the courtroom was shocked. Everyone has told my DH that he was stupid to not go for money because that is the only thing that they understand"hit em in the pocketbook" and I find that to be a very sad statement.

Norwegian Purl stitch Heather this is how I`ve always purled and then I knit through the back loop. This is how I was taught by my mother. I have just recently begun to purl the other way and it is very difficult for me, but it is getting easier although now I have to think before I purl while in the past I just did it. It is nice for me know that it has a name. Thanks for posting.

Alice- I do not mean to speak for Alice, but I did find a website that shows how to do an invisible cast on and thought it might be helpful to you:

Can you beleive this? My son, who lives a block away from me, has recently acquired new neighbors, right next door to him. They have a dog, a pit bull, that they do not tie up when he is outside.Being the father of 3 girls ages 6,6,5 he was concerned about the dog not being tied up and left out alone so he went to their house and welcomed them to the neighborhood and very gracefully asked if they would please tie up their dog or stay outside with it while it does its job. The woman was irate with my son and told him he was just making this request because it was a pit bull, and no she would not do as he asked. He explained to her that his request was not just because of the breed of the dog, that it was because he had 3 small children who liked to play outside and sometimes accidents can happen and he felt it would be best if they tried to prevent anything from happening. She was quite beligerent with him and has refused to tie the dog up. We do not have any ordinances in our city that require a dog to be tied when it is on its own premises. Well the dog chased one of his daughters onto a porch and was growling at her so my son called the police. The officer said to him "who else saw this dog loose, I can`t take just your word for it". He didn`t know if anyone else saw the dog loose so nothing was done about it. Instead of going around the neighborhood and asking residents if they had seen the dog loose the officer left. After the officer left a man from across the street came over to talk to my son and he told him that he had seen the dog running loose too.
Having been raised in a home with a police officer for a father my son just didn`t feel that this was right so he called to ask me my opinion. I advised him to get in touch with a supervisor and voice his concern about how this situation was handled. He took my advise and another officer was sent to his home with forms to be filled out. These forms are to be filled out regarding the loose dog and he must have someone else also fill out a set of the same forms and this person must have been witness to the lose dog. The papers must then be notarized and then taken to the police department. Then they will contact the dog owner and work on solving the problem.
I spoke to DH this morning and he said that this is not how the situation would have been handled when he was on the department. He would have talked to the woman and to other`s in the neighborhood, probably issue a citation and check back in a few days to see if there was still a problem. Apparently that is not how things are done anymore, so much for community police work!
This person lives right next to a neighborhood park and I am so fearful that someone is going to be hurt, and I don`t know what to do.Does anyone have any suggestions?

Can you beleive this? When I posted this note I was not going to mention the breed of dog, because to me it does not matter what the breed is. I have golden retreviers and I would not ever leave the dogs and the kids alone, dogs are dogs and kids are kids and sometimes the two do not mix well and why ask for a problem.
The dog owner is renting the property and DS can not afford a fence at this time.
While I am concerned for the safety of my DGD`s I also am fearful that the poor dog will be hit by a car as they live one block from the highway. This is not responsible dog ownership regardless of the breed, dogs and cats should not be allowed to roam IMHO!
DS has his camera at the ready and the girls are no longer left to play outside alone.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

a question about washing some soiled taj mahal yarn Benne, I would make a paste with a mild laundry soap or dish soap or shampoo and baking soda and gently scrub on it using a soft tooth brush, maybe even some fels naptha soap.
