white lies Just received the Schoeller + Stahl Summer 2003 pattern book from this site and am making the "undershirt" shown with the S + S Cecil yarn.

If you have trouble finishing the White Lies set, there is the best little jacket (number 9 in the book) for you to knit for the cocktail hour at your anniversary celebration. Model is wearing it, as you should, au naturel. It has a broad v-neck and just two tiny buttons on loops as closures, just across the cleavage. Looks like lovely belled wrists. I don`t think you will have to don the White Lies later on.............. and you may go hungry (in the food sense only!!)

by the way, the pattern book has some great things I wish I could wear but I know my girls will love.

it`s my birthday and I`ll cry if I want to Most of the time, when someone asks me how old I am, I can`t remember!! I just know that this year I turn 50. But it`s just a number, isn`t it! When writing my bio, I first wrote that I was 43 then had to correct it!!! What happened there I wonder!!

I`d love to invite you to our get-away this weekend at Bev`s mom`s house. We could pick you up at airport in Calgary. (home of the "Greatest Show on Earth" the Calgary Stampede, ya know!) Bev and I turn 50 this yr., another is 43, aonther is in her late 30`s and the last just turned 30 (this is really funny, it turns out that I went to the same school as her MOM who was a grade behind me!!!!). Activities are as mentioned in a prev. post!!
As for maturity, who`s that for!!
Lesley - who will propose another toast - to your birthday

Can ya believe it? I just took a boo at the latest mags in our store and there it was, "Knitter`s" Spring 2004! I can`t believe it! We don`t usually have it on the shelf!! Ah ha!! I can take it in the house and keep it or read it very, very, carefully (no drool)and then return it to the shelf. NO, DH DID NOT BRING IN A COPY AND SAY "LES, HERE`S SOMETHING YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN....."

"momma told me there`d be days like this" Okay, I`m whining just a little.........
Early yesterday, I took DH the postmaster to have some skin cancer gouged out of his nose and a piece of skin from behind his ear grafted on...... Hung around the city til I got the call to pick him up. DH a little cranky (!) til I got him home and got some Advil into him...... All day, while in the city, I was getting calls from DD wondering if I knew yet if I would be back in time to drive her to her driver`s ed class in Okotoks.
Get DD to drivers ed class and return home an hour later. Get DS to make us grilled cheese sandwiches for supper. Hop in car to pick up DD in Okotoks. It`s dusk and the sun is starting to set behind a large hill. Drive 2 miles and a deer takes a run at me! Not a big thunk, no swerve, no witnesses. Just a whole lot of fur on my antenna. I`m not even shaking - just PO`d. Figure I can go on but hear DH`s words in my head telling me to stop and check things out...... Major damage to hood and right quarter panel. Radiator fluid pouring out all over, R headlight hanging by a cord. Phone DH - with bandages all over his face - who comes and picks me up, takes me home and then goes to pick up DD in Okotoks.
So, I guess I`ll spend today talking to the insurance adjuster, going to the RCMP detachment to report the accident etc. and work in the store all day for DH.
Waaaaaaaa!!

"momma told me there`d be days like this" Oh, that`s funny, Corinna, about the mounting of the the antlers!! I had 2 cars stop to see if I was ok and the first guy asked where the deer went so I pointed east and he raced off to look for it - don`t know why - dinner?, put it out of it`s misery?, ahhhh, the antlers - for the "great white hunter" look!!

"momma told me there`d be days like this" Don`t think the deer population is out of control but the ranchers think the elk are. they, (elk, not ranchers!) urinate on the huge round-bails of hay they feed the cattle and then the cattle won`t eat it.
I`m not "with" the ranchers. I love to see a herd in a field as the sun goes down (time when you usually see them).

"momma told me there`d be days like this" You made me laugh Alice!! I`ll try the cable thing too!! DH the postmasterjust heard from the body shop and it is about $7,000.00 damage. Wow!!
If you go back to Okotoks again, do drop by for a visit!!
Good luck with your deer fence problems. They do like to munch on things they shouldn`t, don`t they. They are fond of some of my perennials (selective tastes too - my prized heuchera which didn`t grow back). You had better get your neighbors dog doing her job!

"momma told me there`d be days like this" Had a busy day yesterday. Spent some of it trying to get Mike from working......he`d go in the house when the nose and graft site started oozing a little blood (more info than you wanted perhaps?!).

Called the insurance co. and reported the accident. Was told I can get a rental van till the van is repaired. Our deductable is only $100.00 (as the van isn`t quite a year old). The body shop can proceed after they send an appraiser out.

Found a car rental place in Okotoks to get a repacement van and a handsome young man picked me up and drove me to Okotoks to do the paper work. Have decided I quite enjoy driving for 30 minutes with handsome young men, having interesting conversation, out in the country! ;-}

Went to the RCMP detachment (they "always get their man" but will they get the deer?) and got the accident sticker so the body shop can legally proceed.

Went to bed at 8:45pm......... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Corrina - as I didn`t see the deer coming, I did not miss a beat. Didn`t swerve or touch the brakes so I`m sure that I am physically fine. Thanks for your concern and suggestions tho.

Beautiful Marion! Agreed! great stuff Marion and Judy. You have raised the bar so high I will have to "Limbo" beneath it!!
BTW, where are the rest of the Bios for those who post but we have no bio for, AND PICTURES for you "shy" ones who have left a bio but no pics? Afraid we will recognise you on the posters at the post office?

Baby knits Check out the Jil Eaton books (some are on this site - see "products" button) "Minnies" has some excellent patterns with gorgeous pictures and they give you yarn suggestions and of course gauge and yardage are mentioned so you can substitute. The Debbie Bliss books have some wonderful patterns in nice soft stuff - great pics too. Good luck!

Afghans and some more Those are great Point Mousse. I think I;ll try those baby blanket samplers with some of my leftovers. I haven`t done much in the way of cable stitches or lace - just a little on the front of sweaters. This will give me a taste of some more!
BTW, my literal french to english translation (with my limited high school french) of your chat name can get quite amusing!! What is it?

slipper socks Linda - don`t you just find sometimes that knitting instructions are like commands for the computer? We have denotations for a particular word or phrase but now it means something else. I have a new cell phone. The instructions for turning it on were in chapter two!! Hmmm! Then they were to: press "End" and hold for 3 seconds!! LOL And here I thought "End" meant.....
Well, back to knitting shop owners.... MacChick gave some good advice but try to top this shop owners technique..... I went to the shop with one of the kids and I`m usually pretty sensitive with my kids and what they might do in a store. I told DD that we wouldn`t be long and she could stroke the pretty yarns with her fingers but couldn`t pull them off the shelf. The woman glared at my DD when we came in and as soon as DD touched a ball of yarn the woman was on her, humiliating her. I then saw, on the wall, a poorly photocopied sign about how horribly children behave and how it is just a reflection of the childs parents and their lack of parenting skills. Wish I could remember the way it was phrased!! Needless to say, she is no longer in business and I certainly hope that the woman did not procreate!! good luck with your slipper socks - I have been making lots of them lately. Great gifts!

Can someone please help me find a pattern for this? There`s one in Sally Melville`s "Book 2 The Purl Stitch" book - available on this site.
