Me too - happy holidays to folks at elann
|
The day after Christmas is called "Boxing Day" and is celebrated in Canada and Great Britain, Australia and NZ. I think it got its name during Queen victoria`s time, because those that "had" would box up food and gifts and distribute it to the less fortunate thus, they were "Boxing" things.
Yes, LOL, there are Many "Boxing Day" sales in the retail world and if you have true grit and stamina, you may want to go out and get a deal on some expensive electronics equipment.
I love Boxing Day and breath a sigh of relief and contentment that day - put my feet up and play with my toys. If I haven`t hosted Christmas dinner, will often have a casual gathering for friends or family. Many people will have an "open house" for friends to drop by.
Have a great Boxing Day, everyone! Les

Peruvian Collection
|
So sad about your pups, Patricia. I happened upon a LYS yesterday and thought of you and your substantial Peruvian collection. I bought a fantastic hat book (magazine style) by Sandnes. It has hats of all styles and weights of yarn, with some wonderful funky ones which would look terrific on your little grandaughters, knit in the HW. They are really "happy" hats!! the Danish words on the book are Sandnes luer Tema 01 Barn/Voksne The pic on the cover is a little girl wearing a blue, yellow, green and red hat. The LYS had a sample of one of the other hats, for an adult, which was knit out of 1 skein of Eliz Lavold Silky Wool and is sort of a baby cable (as in small) knit. I bought some of the yarn and will start it this afternoon. Cheers Les

In the fall, I saw some gloves knit with the possum. They looked great. The possum looked like a light angora ie. not as fuzzy but very very soft. Les

Oh Benne!!

Benne, the shawl is perfect on friend Marge. Bet she was thrilled with the hand made gift. I`ll bet it`s so lovely to wear in the alpaca - not too bulky - just cozy. Les

I`m back, and dying to tell you about this "WOW!"
|
Here`s my daughters airline story... with Air Canada. We were just in Winnipeg and my oldest DD was flying out a day before the rest of us drove home. There had been a blizzard (I think they called it a Minnesota Clipper) and her flight was to leave at 6:50 am. DH managed to get her to the airport as we were staying at a hotel nearby and there was a lineup of hundreds of people for the AC desk. There was ONE person at the counter, and another at the exec class counter - presumably filing his/her nails. (okay, it would have been difficult for people to get to work) People in the line were just a bit anxious as they slowly went through the line. Then, all of a sudden, the counter rep. closes up and LEAVES - with this huge line-up! No replacement in sight!! Several minutes later, someone came and resumed the check-ins! so, I wonder what that was about? Coffee break - too much coffee? DH stayed until DD was in the boarding lounge and it was quite a while before they boarded. Then a while spent on the plane (de-icing?)before they attempted the runway and then they turned back before they were airborn having decided that the engines weren`t quite working right - too cold I guess. I can accept/understand the weather delays, but closing down the counter? Les

Quick Poll: Colors
|
I`m among the jewel tone people. I wear many blues - do jeans count? I also wear intense or pastel colours. The only colurs I don`t wear are oranges and rusts or true reds- the cranberries look better. Les
