Sentimental Journey i don`t think it would be that difficult. it`s just mitred squares I think and you have to pick up stitches on the edge of an existing square and do another one. I tried a hat last week with mitred squares and it wasn`t difficult and was actually kind of fun!! Now lace, that`s a challenge!
You CAN do it Heather!! go for it!!

Has anyone tried this? http://www.kling.com/magneticpaintindex.html
I found this magnetic paint on the web. I`ve never heard of it before ( ya, okay, it`s probably been around for years!!). Has anyone tried it? I can see it being kind of neat for the students in my life ie. put a patch up on the wall by their desk.

Bets - did you decide what patterns to make for MIL and Barbie? Are they on the needles yet?

Has anyone tried this? Oh, yes, Changing rooms is much better! I like the hostess, Handy Andy and find the Brits much more blunt and amusing!! (same with the British "What not to Wear" - much better!
And, as for TS`s carpenter (BTW where`s Vern? I loved him!)- he doesn`t do a thing for me - I don`t understand the fuss. He reminds me of "Ernest" the goof in those stupid movies!

Les , you don`t have to e-me, because...This is funny Oh, that`s a good one. I think it helps with creativity - poor eyesight, that is. Mine isn`t what you would call poor but just "going" a bit and what I see is not what is, but then now I have a unique idea that I like. As well, a couple of times I`ve commented on someones colours in their project and what`s on my monitor isn`t what is really there - but again, I like what I see!! LOL

Gathering on Salt Spring in September would that be a HUGE box with air holes on the sides and melted chocolate running out the corners?

Despite my best intentions My sympathies, ladies!!
High drama around here is when one of our coolers or freezers in the store go down! DH was described by his brother as always being "in neutral or overdrive"! Yup, that`s him!

Marion re: micro Hi Marion
I am planning to make a beach coverup mini-skirt for a friend and was thinking of the Lara coming up but then thought what if it has extra colour in it and started to run down the backs of her legs etc. or bags out when wet. so, I thought the micro might be nice or maybe the esprit (with the stretch being handy for such a garment).
What do you think?
Les - BTW, those are great tanks (nice to use up and the sweater`s going to be beautiful. I love that 1824 Mission Falls cotton.

Beach skirt I`m planning on making a beach skirt for a friend. The pattern is in the Drops Strikk Design #78. It`s basically a tube mini skirt. there a few rows on the hem of garter st. in 2 contrasting colours and the main part is stockinette and then you decrease gradually over a number of rows at the top. It has a cord threaded through at the top. I was going to make it with Esprit for the snap back ability but the colours left won`t do. I will use the Micro, using two strands. I thought that rather than doing the decreases at the top, I would do a few inches of something net-ish. The reason being I want it to be easy to step into in public!! Alice, you mentioned in some post for making an afghan, to do mock turkish stitch between different yarns. Do you think this would be okay at the top of the skirt? That stitch is quite stretchy and would snap back with the weight of the skirt once it is on. Any other ideas ladies?
thanks

The joke was on me! Two of my friends and I do a b-day supper for each other and our spouses. We go all out and spend lots of time creating the menu, shopping for special things, etc. It kinda lets the DH`s off the hook as we are assured of having a lovely dinner celebration, if they forget! It was my b-day and it was L`s turn to host. She had asked me about a month ago if I liked lobster (she is originally from Nova Scotia). Snicker, snicker - I knew what was on the menu! She thought I wouldn`t have put two and two together!
I spent the day gardening at the front of the store removing a dying juniper- those things are brutal - wearing full armour and using a mini chain saw ! Had a bath, washed hair, looked at bed and, well....... I took a nap!....... Damp hair didn`t look TOO bad afterwards-no need to blow it dry! I had recently splurged on a cut by the "master"! Jeans too baggy in the knees to wear to the dinner so found a pair of clean pants.
Headed off to L`s, salivating at the thought of the succulent lobster and the company of fine friends.
I realized, when we drove up the long driveway, that there were more cars there than should be there. OHHHHHHH! I said.
There on the long veranda were over 50 friends!! I couldn`t believe it. Blushing, with teary eyes and jelly knees, I walked into the group who were laughing histerically. I couldn`t believe it! I find out that for a month, EVERYONE has been working hard at keeping a secret from Les! Now, I can trust no one!! It was a monumental effort and a party which was truly over the top! Yes, it was the Five-O.

A knitting mothers dream come true Awww! That is just so sweet! You are very lucky and I hope that she continues to ask to go to "Yarn store". My kids sit in the car or come in for a moment and then quickly retreat to the car when they see me drooling and fondling!! I am such an embarassment! LOL

Does Anyone Use Instant Messaging?? Two of our kids use MSN - drives me nuts when the one in high school uses it to talk to the kids she just spent all day with. The MSN likes to come on all by itself sometimes when I`m on Elann and I have to turn it off.
It was a good thing the other day tho when I noticed my niece who has been in Argentina for almost a year got on and I was able to talk to her! I guess she sometimes talks to my daughter but I never get any info. from my daughter!

Shui Kuen - Great sweater. Shui Kuen - I love the sweater. Is this the one you were doing from the top down? I remember you saying you were working on one. The little cables look so cool the way they intersect. Great job, girl!!

The joke was on me! No,Bets, there wasn`t a scrap of lobster!! Lorraine says she will cook me some, sometime soon! AND I`m going to hold her to it. She had ham and everyone brought salads or appetizers. had to settle for smoked salmon, crab cakes and sushi!! Tough, eh?
