Arghhhh!! Laundry Crisis - help please Thanks for the tips - I am goin in..........

The problem is just the grease/oil - no colour. Problem #2 is that she paid for both pair with her own money earned by babysitting, teaching basketball, weekend job at the golf course......... However, that said, it is moi who has to take the time to get her to a store to buy these things and of course they can`t be just any old shorts, they have to be Nike basketball shorts and dang it, she is a pretty responsible kid (ie does her own laundry etc.)and an honours student......blah - but she has a clothes thing happening!

Arghhhh!! Laundry Crisis - help please Dear Laundry Wizards;
Thanks so much for all your amazing “grease bustin” tips. The crisis has been solved, or should I say dissolved. That polyester jersey fabric is funny stuff it really seems to grab that grease and hang on (past experience with other b-ball shorts).
Benne mentioned “Goo Gone”, I had “Goof Off” – Close enough for me – had some. No WD-40 at hand, no Fels soap (never heard of it), peanut butter is “crunchy” Reading later posts, I realize that they must not even be close as GG is one of those orange oil things and GO is a noxious smelling, killer product (gets gum out of carpets, labels off things, removes dried latex paint, etc. - only to be used with good ventilation. I squirted it on, rubbed it and left it for a while. Smelled awful. Looked for something to overpower the smell. Put shorts in washer, doused them with Mr. Clean (smell killer) , added an old pair of jeans for agitation help and then washed all with hot water. Washed again with Tide. Hung outside to dry. It worked –DD happy!
WD 40 and Fels Naptha Soap now on list “to buy”.

Beatrice! I looked at the pics of your plates, x-stitch and quilt. They are terrific - great talent! Love your sense of colour too. AND I love the fabric of your couch!! LOL
The pieces of your quilt are all so wonderfully rumpled. How did you achieve that - wool batting?

Felted bag pics for inspiration! http://freefriends.org/~mare/suki.html
These are beautiful and show size differences between "just knit" and the final product.

Felted bag pics for inspiration! ya, they sure do shrink. Some people like to see the stitch definition after felting - I prefer not to see it or not much of it anyway. You can see the difference in some of the bags.

Round of Applause for DH! Wonderful Eileen! Now you can take your "old" suitcase with you empty, and fill it up with all of the lovely yarn you see at the festival! That`s what he wanted you to do I`m sure! He is a sweetheart!

To the Ladies Maryland bound Oh my! A blond a brunette and a red-head on the loose in brand new undies! After a couple of glasses of wine, see if you can convince anyone that you were triplets separated at birth! Eileen, being the young-un was obviously "quite" premature!!!

Have fun ladies! Wish I were there!

sleeveless v-neck sweater/has center cable stitch There is one in "Hip to Knit" by Judith L. Swartz (Interweave Press, 2002) on page 62 called Everybody`s Vest. Lucky for you that I forgot to return it to the library this week and found it in the bottom of my knitting bag!!

Phew!! Had me worried yesterday! Logged on early yesterday - no problem. Later my computer told me Elann had vaporized! Got a frantic e-mail from Cindy who had wanted to look at the days offering - also with no luck - so I knew it wasn`t my computer. Wonder what happened!
Glad it`s working today!

ebayweddingdressguy.com When i clicked on the site, the bidding was over and the winning bidder paid 3850.00 for it. Maybe he tried to re-re-sell the famous dress!! It really was a lovely dress in the beading detail. Very elaborate!

Happy May Day to everyone! Gorgeous day here as well.
Just discovered why we use the phrase "silly goose". On the highway into the city there are some mature poplar trees that has a years old nest - one of those massive things with ad-ons eash year. This year it is inhabited by a Canada goose. She sits there with her head held regally on her loooong neck, keeping her eggs warm. She is about 30 ft. up there and in the median with 2 lanes of traffic and a posted speed of 90km/hr. She is the "laughing stock" (now where did that phrase come from?) of the countryside. I just don`t want to be there when those goslings are ready to leave the nest.

Back In Tennessee where water towers behave Sound like fun was had by all! Glad to hear that none of you climbed the water tower to show it who was boss!! I WAS a little worried, ya know!!

I`ll bet you can`t wait to get playing with the yarns you bought.

By the way, our hummers are back! I put out the feeder about a week ago, (which needs to be replaced this year) and yesterday we heard them around tho I never did see one. Can`t wait to watch their little courtship display. That is so cool.

Patricia, - your box of WB Did you ever read this from knittinguniverse.com It`s from an interview with a few designers...... These are great!!

Lily: Lily Chin`s Top 10 Ways to Hide the Stash":
1. Tape a bag of yarn to the underside of all chairs—who`ll know?
2. Put a slipcover over a bag of yarn, stick it on the couch, call it a pillow.
3. Remove the cushions of the couch, stuff with yarn instead.
4. There are narrow books that don`t reach all the way to the back of the bookshelf. That "dead" space behind such books is good for several skeins.
5. Do you wear all your shoes at the same time? No, stick a skein of yarn in each unworn shoe (boots are great for this very reason).
6. Everyone has clothes in the closet that are never, ever worn. Sew up the bottoms of the garments, insert yarn. Do not forget to sew up bottoms of sleeves. There`s enough in each sleeve for more than a bag`s worth.
7. Never cook, only order take-out or go to restaurants. You`ve now got the whole oven!
8. Look to the china cabinet. That large soup tureen? Maybe a bag. Large teapot? A few balls. Covered dish? The same.
9. The freezer is advantageous for fuzzies such as angora or mohair. Make sure to place in plastic bag first. This is known as the high-fiber diet!
10. Get a really large box and fill it up with lots and lots of yarn. Put a tablecloth over it. Voila, instant dresser?br>
Sally: I don`t hide my yarn: I hide my credit card receipts—especially when coming through customs. It is an astute customs agent who knows what this stuff is really worth!

personally, I like the one about sewing the bottom of a garment in your closet ;-}

A suitable venue for an Elann meet-up Hey Bets, I`ll help you out here.
I like your idea of Colorado springs. DN went to U. there and I met my sister for "Parents Wkd/Homecoming" and spent 4 days. I loved it. It is a small city- easy to get around- with an airport and Denver (a hub)with car rentals, nearby. There is "Garden of the Gods" for inspiration, Pikes Peak, Manitou Springs about 4 miles away for boutique shopping and quaintness and the best vegetarian restaurant(tho I can`t remember the name), for Eileen. Nearby are a zillion ski resorts which I`d guess, in off season would be great to visit.
I think that with a group like ours (kinda chatty) one might not want to have anything too organized like a festival, going on, simply because the social aspect needs to be fed. There is enough talent in the group (and enough yarn) that informal "lessons" from the gang would likely suffice. Comments?
So there Bets, does that help ya? Oh ya, the kids said that Manitou springs has the largest number of witches per capita of anywhere in the US!!

Les, did the Mailman deliver your Interweave Knits? Benne - It`s the Knitters which has been recently introduced to our store not the Interweave Knits. Perhaps I could - yes, I will, put a call to get the others.
This aft I went to Okotoks to do some work and then headed up the highway to "Shuttleworks" where there is an acreage with a brand new weaving/spinning studio and a double garage sized yarn/weaving stuff shop. I wanted to play with some yarn and handle their soy silk. I have a little presentation to do in June on Tofu, so I thought I`d do a little something in Soy Silk. Do you like how I`m thinking? Have put it off til I`m a little wealthier!! LOL
Did manage to pick up a ccouple of back issues of Knitters, and supplies to dye the cotton I have in that "cement" colour. I have a WIP which I will dye and then will dye some more yarn after making skeins. don`t know what I`m doing but I figure ignorance is bliss.
I showed a lot of self restraint at the store and even had stuff in my arms and managed to put it back!
guess I`ll have to drool over the mags. I want some of the new yarn from Elann.
