Measuring Yarn & Blocking Pins - part 2
|
So true about the yellow pages. I miss the good ol` days when there was ONE phonebook. I can`t find anything I`m looking for in any of the half dozen I have around here!
I like Super Taqueria--they`re a chain but I`m not sure if they are in Sunnyvale. San Jose, for sure.

Wow! That`s gorgeous! The handfelting looks exquisite--no wonder you have people lining up to buy them. It`s lined too, I bet. Nice work, Evelyn. Very impressive!

OT-- I love my pressure cooker
|
Thanks to all of you who responded to my pressure cooker inquiry. I ended up getting a 6 qt. Presto stove top model. It makes the best, most tender boneless, skinless chicken breasts (formerly known as "rubber" in my house.) I`m amazed at how well it works--I was a bit nervous the first couple of times--the way that thing rocks on the top--but I`m over it now. I can`t wait to try some more recipes and incorporate those Penzey spices that y`all are always raving about!

OT-- I love my pressure cooker

It`s the stainless steel model--I ordered it off amazon. It was under $50 which I thought was a bargain. It`s sturdy and has a nice heavy base. Did I tell you that I love it? Oh yeah, I already did.

child`s bolero

What about Michelle`s little lace cardi featured in the free patterns. It calls for the super cable and it`s lacy: http://www.elann.com/ShowFreePattern.asp?Id=251024
I also like the Cloud Bolero by Ysolda Teague. That uses a modified feather and fan and looks easy to size down.
Good luck!

Color advice, please . . .
|
I`m not very good with color either but I like to look at the Pantone color forecasts for inspiration. It looks like jewel tones are going to be in for fall again this year--I especially like the goldish/greens paired with purples. I like Dried Herb in HW and the golden bark. I think those are good with the brighter jewel tones. I`ll think about it a little more and get back to ya`. Meanwhile, take a look here: There`s also a forecast for spring but I thought the fall palette was nicer. This is really a question for Pat QOC--where are you Pat?!

Color advice, please . . .
|
Let me preface by saying that I`m not good with color but I`m going to tell you what I think anyway :) Lurve the bronze color with either of your colors. I don`t have shade cards--can only see the scans on the computer. I don`t really like the walnut on my monitor.
I can`t find hyacinth on my shade card of HW, so I don`t know about that. I love the GB with the purples--but I think I like it better with the deeper ones like aubergine or eggplant.
I also like the GB with charcoal or black ala Burberry maybe with an accent color; GB with tapestry blue looks nice too.
I think one of the most important considerations is what you wear. I have a hard time with purses--my uniform is jeans, blacks and brown so I find a neutrals like the GB or DH work the best for me (so I`m not always changing purses.) My current purse is a dark wash jeansy hobo and it goes with everything casual. It`s also seen better days and needs replacing :(

Going with three colors . . .
|
Oooh boy! I won! I won! How exciting! Is the yarn already knit into a pair of socks? haha!
I see what you are looking for now--graduated colors. Very nice, very sophisticated. I looked at your colors and these are my thoughts:
Tuscany, Oregano, DH - lovely! Aubergine, Autumn Purple, Dusky purple (aubergine looked too dark to me) DB sea, teal, mesa teal - very nice! They are all right next to each other on the shade card. Claret, rasberry, victorian rose (dusty rose looked a bit salmony next to the rasberry) I also like teal, mesa teal and starlight blue.
I don`t have garnet so can`t comment on the reds. They are tough!
