fb shawl pattern
|
I too have been shawl indifferent but these beautiful flower basket shawls have motivated me to give one a try. I`ve been reading the posts but am not sure where to find the pattern--is it the XRX Shawl book or is it a fiber trend leaflet?

only stretch
|
I`m looking for a soft, machine washable yarn suitable for making a simple mistake rib scarf. For those of you who have used stretch yarns--do you think the Only Stretch will work?

BRI378 - Did you like the Quattro?
|
I feel like I am barging in--but I have to say that I love the Quattro. The finished product is so pretty and drapey--the yarn however is very slick. I am making a second sleeveless shell because I liked the first one so much--I dropped a stitch on the first attempt of both tops and ended up having to start each one over twice. I also find that the yarn gets hung up on the cable/needle transition of my circulars so I have to be careful not to knit too tightly.

Love the Hoodie, Jayne!!

What a great knit--awesome enough to draw me out from lurking. You are so talented! Actually, all of you Elannites are so inspiring.
So, Jayne, do you favor the first Yarn Girl book or the second?

Love the Hoodie, Jayne!!

Hi Jayne!
I think I will have to add the second book to my next Elann order (if they have it.) I have some khaki Pisco from awhile back that I think will work for the hoodie. If not, I may have to order some Adhoc in one of the loverly colors that remain. After seeing some of the pattern suggestions for the Katrina, I may have to break down and get some of that too. Thanks for the book recommendation! Can`t wait to see your next finished object.

While everyone else was buying Katrina
|
I appreciate the yarn protection strategies but I had to laugh--my husband would keel over if he found yarn in the freezer. I guess it could join all of the nuts that I store in there as well. I could just tell him that I ran out of yarn storage space--had to put it somewhere.

Oh no! Heaven forbid my yarn purchasing goes up. I have lots of yarn that needs to be knit. I do like that Maxi though--have mixed feelings about 100% cotton. The only 100% cotton that I enjoyed knitting was Elsbeth Lavold cotton patine. It had a nice hand and didn`t tire my fingers at all. I have some Sonata waiting in the wings too--looking forward to trying that. I do so like those Adhoc colors...hoping it won`t jump in my basket.

Kellygirl - Welcome!
|
Thanks again for the very warm welcome! You are such a fun bunch. I love starting my day with a quick peek at chat center to see whatcha all are up to. I will post a bio as soon as the kiddies are off to school again (and when I get dsl.) In the meantime, I will pop in and post since I`ve "outted" (is that a word?) myself.

Theresa - belated HUGe signups?

This is so tempting. I`m not ready to set sail just yet but how many openings are there in the third cell?

Katrina ruffle shrug
|
Does this look familiar? This is MacChick`s child`s shrug pattern with a ruffle border. I used two balls of Katrina on US #8 (definitely could have gone up a needle size but I wanted to do two sleeves at once and could only find one #9 circular.) My little one can wear it on the first day of kindergarten. Thanks for the pattern, MacChick!

Katrina ruffle shrug
|
Thanks! It is the lavender--it`s such a pretty color. I loved working with the Katrina--it`s so stretchy and forgiving for my somewhat uneven tension (my purl stitches are looser than my knits.) I`m eyeing the dusk now--it`s such a quick knit I won`t even have to count the yarn as "stash."

Love the look of the combined yarns felted. I have some Outback mohair that I need to do something with too. What size needles did you use?

First day of school today

Mine go back on Tuesday. It`s kind of a bummer--summer has been so much fun. I guess it always feels like it goes by too fast.

I too love the multiple colors look. It`s given me some ideas for my "couple balls of this and couple balls of that." Great job! Thanks for sharing.

Another gorgeous creation, Jayne! Makes me want to run to Michaels (with coupon in hand) and see the yarn up close and personal.

Amy, you are one BAAAADD FO-poster
|
Your pix are inspiring! Your clapotis brings back memories of my last one--the part about thinking it wouldn`t end. I love your colors--almost makes me want to start another but that would make four and I think I am done with that pattern. Was the daisy scarf complicated? It is really beautiful.
