Question for Ann
|
To Lisa and Benne and others, I sell a fair amount of knitting. Do I make much money? No. But I figure that I love to knit, enjoy making things, and selling and making a little is still fun. I will have to report my sales this year on the income tax, which means I earned more than $600 US. I knit pretty simple things and am not too slow (but not as fast as many). Happy knitting, Jamie

Welcome, Christopher, Your scarves sounds interesting. What size yarn do you use, and how many threads to you deal with (warp threads) and how do you weave them? Do you ever knit? Happy weaving, Jamie

ARGYLE SOCKS....anyone doing these?
|
Hi Joan, I haven`t made argyles for years and years, but yes, the seam in the back is always there but shouldn`t be too noticeable if the seam is done carefully with the pattern matching. While being worn few people see the seam. An old friend of mine still has his pair after 40+ years and I have seen him wear them from time to time!! Happy knitting, Jamie

leg warmers from VK using Sock It to Me
|
Hi Benne! Leg warmers, yea, that`s just what I need on this cold morning. Knitting them with sections of fair isle would be okay as long as there was still enough stretch to get them over the feet. It would also make them extra thick and so warm!!! Can you tell my ankles and lower shins are cold this morning! Happy knitting, Jamie

sapphire color

Good morning! See MacChick`s comment under Raspberry Alpaca below this post. Sounds like the sapphire has both blue and purple but blends best with the purple. Happy knitting, Jamie

leg warmers from VK using Sock It to Me
|
Benne, I don`t have the VK issue, but I was just thinking of making some leg/ankle warmers from the SITM with fair isle and stripes and a velcro strip. I`d knit them back/forth and not in the round. That way I would have to get them over my feet! My SITM will be waiting for me when I get home. Fact is I plan to use most of the yarn as carry along yarn with eyelash yarn for making scarves and shawls, but I`m sure that there is enough for leg warmers for ME! SUrely you knit a few things for yourself, don`t you? Jamie

If Moths ruined your wool sweaters...
|
Thanks, Michelle and Cate--you have given me some possibilities for the numerous old sweaters in my trunks, drawers and closets. I have friends who buy old sweaters at thrift shops and recycle them into new items (several on your list) with great success! They even sell some of the new creations! Happy felting and creating, Jamie

gauge

Carrie, Cotton seems to stretch a bit so I would probably go with the 14 sts/inch but anyone else`s guess is as good as mine! I`d be going blind to work at that gauge. Good luck! Jamie
