Peruvian Collection Patricia, Such sad news! You must feel very lonely just now. Organizing your stash may be like meeting friends again! So sorry about the dogs, and David leaving! Jamie

How do you spell irritating? F.L.U. Hi Jean! Hope that life in the Casa de Flores is getting back to "normal"; normal sounds pretty darn busy and hectic to me. Too bad about the flu -- I pray you feel better soon. Peace to you and yours, Jamie

Explaining about sending a hat to Ann Thanks, Benne, for explaining this. I guess I should have known about the chemo hats, but had not remembered. It`s a kind thing to do! Thanks to all who participate! Jamie

Need good yarn for felting Cascade yarn in their worsted weight felts well. I used 2 strands on large needles for two bags I made a couple of years ago. The white felted okay along with darker colors in the same bag. Jamie

Dilema Hi Libby, I have very sensitive skin and many allergies but I can work with wool and mohair. I cannot wear mohair much, unless I have a scarf at my neck. My wrists are not so sensitive. As for wool, I don`t wear it next to my skin, except on hands, wrists, occasionally lower arms, head and sometimes my face (when it`s really cold!). I am left with numerous articles that I can knit -- for myself and others. Good luck with wearing the GN over a turtleneck knit shirt. I agree with all that HW is much softer. BTW, alpaca, angora and perhaps other fibers are not for me! Happy knitting, Jamie

BC vs. Sock It To Me Hi Kim, The Sock It To Me yarn will wear much better than the BC cashmere for socks. I have a friend who made a beautiful pair of socks from silk-wool yarn and before very long, they had a hole from the big toe. Heels also will suffer unless you reinforce the fragile yarn with nylon or some stronger fiber. The color of the SITM yarn are really great! The BC is wonderful for luxurious scarves, hand warmers or sweaters! Happy knitting, Jamie

Pieceworks Lace Shawl Hi Suzann, Pieceworks is another great magazine from Interweave Press, but I don`t get it regularly (I do subscribe too Interweave`s Knitting, Hand Spun and Handwoven magazine--yikes it`s a lot!). Anyway, the baby cashmere would work up great in the old shale (feather and fan) lace pattern. The pattern is an oldy and goody. RE: wrist warmers, also fingerless gloves or mittens--they are becoming very popular. At our recent fiber arts sale several people were looking for them (and we had only a few). The young crowd on college campuses likes them and I`m about the start making some, instead of my usual mitten. Happy knitting, Jamie

I`m back, and dying to tell you about this "WOW!" WElcome home, Bets! The stories you and Patricia tell are getting to be so typical of the service that is offered in so many places. It`s really sad that some people just don`t care. Fortunately there are places where service is better (can`t name too many right now) but I just hung up on the United automatic voice-activated reservation line, redailed and somehow pressed the right button for a live service agent -- made my reservation and will buy the ticket tomorrow after I confirm that the dates will work. I also have had quick and respectful responses from Elann.com, no matter how stupid my requests or complaints have been. I`ll miss the Chat Center while I`m in Baltimore after 12 January. Happy knitting, Jamie

Quick Poll: Colors A few years ago two color tests doing the F-W-Sp-Summer colors pegged me as a Spring--and sure enough those are the colors that I wear. I like off white, yellows, reds, salmon, peach, pink, some greens (light shades), most blues, and buff to tan shades. I avoid white but I like black if I can highlight it with a bright red, red-orange something. I can wear violet but don`t have much of it. Jamie
