Hi Martha and Benne, My good sized order came in TWO days; I couldn`t believe the great service from USPS. Storage is now the problem. Thanks for the tip on yarn forward.com; I did go there are ordered two pucks of black (I have the other colors) and was disappointed that there was so few colors. Yarn Forward used to carry most of the principal colors. I have never ordered from them before but the e-mail confirmation about shipping stated that my shipment would arrive around Aug. 26 or so.. Elann has a great system with the Pt. Roberts PO so close by! Happy knitting!

Nat`l Geographic article on Pt. Roberts, WA

I was interested to read the short article in the recent (probably July issue) of National Geographic magazine on little Pt. Roberts which is on the end of penisula south of Delta and Tsawwassen, B.C.. Pt Roberts is the US Post Office that Elann uses to send us in the USA all those wonderful boxes of yarn. IF you have a chance read the short article. It must be an interesting place to live. Jamie PS I get great service from the USPS out of this post office, so hats off to Pt. Roberts!

Put on you thinking caps

Hi HEather, I don`t thank I`ve ever worked with anything for fine. I don`t ever like 20/2 but I`m wondering what method you used to double it. I would use four strands to knitting (probably) but to do this I would make four balls on my yarn winder, then make of new ball with four ends. I do combine small theads of wool in this way, usually 2 strands to four (to use on #5-6 needles) and then perhaps to eight (for #8s) strands. What would you like to have in trade for the cotton/silk 60/2 (2 1/2# is a lot). I also made thick wefts from 6+ thread in different colors so I`m used to working with multiple thread.
The roving is tempting, but like yarn, I have lots of roving and spinning is very slow for me. Let me know what you want to trade for the cotton/silk and the rovings. Are you the same Heather that wanted some of the Plymouth Outback mohair?

washing ponchos with fringe - my solution

Hi Benne, One way to improve the washability of the fringe would be to twist 2 or 4 strands (twisted 1-1 or 2-2 against each other--do you know what I mean?), but it may not look like you want it to. One problem with single strand fringes is that they tend to twist with other single strands. To twist against evens out the twist. You twist strands in the same direction (the natural one) and at the same time twist against to join in one "strand). I`m not sure that this is clear but it is probably explained in books. I bought a twister gadget at the weavers` convention, Convergence, this summer but so far I still twist the ends of weaving projects by hand. Jamie
