Survey and opinion Hi Heather, Of course it depends on what you want to make. For a shawl, the all cotton Lara would be great for summer. My preference in all yarns is wool; also I love wool-silk, and wool-silk-cashmere is dreamy soft, lightweight and warm. The mohair now on sale on Elann would make a warm, light weight shawl. Personally I don`t like cotton-acrylic mixes, or machine washable wool but that`s a personal preference. Elann has some great all cotton buys (the endless summer collections) right now. Happy knitting! Jamie who is weaving with endless summer Sonata, knitting with White Buffalo, plus the endless summer Lara (soon to start) and spinning wool! and never finishing anything!

Ohhhhh! The Peek is up! Hi! I don`t know about Glace, but I guess I`ll have to stay off the computer until this is all gone to other homes! THe Tajmalhal was too much for me and I indulged! What would you make from this rayon? I really like rayon in lots of summer clothes, and guess it wears and washes well in a yarn? Do you know? Jamie

Fair Isle Sweater problems... HELP! Sounds like a lot of good suggestions. Frogging isn`t as awful as it seems as long as you did NOT twist yarns as you changed colors. But you should probably try some of the other suggestions first. Good luck! Jamie

Anyone know if Outback Wool felts well? Hi! THe Outback wool has all the qualities for excellent felting - it`s all wool, and wooly yarn (as opposed to a worsted wool which is shiner and slicker) so slippers/clogs sound like a great project! You have given some of a good idea!n Thanks and happy knitting! Jamie

Your turn, Benne! Nice work, MacChick and Chicklet, Congrats on trying something new. I don`t think anyone should consider what we around Denver are called hand framed knitting any less a work of love and art that hand knitting. My hands are bothering me more and more, so I am turning to lighter knitting projects. I have friends who do extremely beautiful work on knitting machines, so keep experimenting and be proud of your work! Jamie who has projects all over the place - several different weaving looms, a spinning wheel and a huge collection of knitting needles, a ton of yarns and fiber to spin and still only 24 hours a day to do it all! You do beautiful, creative knitting, MacChick!

Using both ends of the ball of yarn! Hi Carrie, Using the other end of the ball should not be a problem. The twist should be in the same direction. It`s a good idea to use up the ball rather than starting a new one. Jamie

Survey-What`s on the needles- Bets, you come up with the best survey questions! On the needles--a winter sweater with royal blue White BUffalo and Outback mohair for the pattern (it`s an Icelandic cardigan pattern), plus a forever unfinished cardigan with Louet wool yarn. Have finished a triangular shawl with Fizz (Crystal Palace) and brown sheep sock yarn as carry along thread, and a scarf in Sascha (from Elann). The scarf was knit a large needles, 11US?, and looks okay.
Lots of ideas in my head but there are other distractions -- my loom with placemats, my belt looms (inkle looms) with 3 different project, spinning, etc. Yikes, no wonder I`m having trouble finishing anything! Happy knitting (but please, limit the frogging)! Jamie

Oh well I guess it wasn`t meant to be Heather, Refresh my memory! What project were you planning to make with the Outback marengo? Jamie

Oh well I guess it wasn`t meant to be Hey Heather, If you see this e-mail me to let me know how much of the mohair Marengo color you need. I was the "old meany" who bought the last three skeins and there`s nothing to keep me from selling it to you. Let`s talk. Jamie (jsc716@terra.com). The yarn won`t be here until the end of the week at the soonest.

Survey-What`s on the needles- Hi again, Heather,
I make Christmas ornament type things with the inkle weaving as well as bookmarks, keyfobs, and occasionally belts. I have a belt with Scandinavian pick-up pattern going to the County Fair this week. The is the first time I have participated in a county fair. I have also used inkle bands as trim on dresses and would like to use it on some placemats someday. I have a Louet spinning wheel. Now that I have more time my spinning is improving but it`s still not too great. I am also hoping to have 1 or 2 things at the county fair in the made from hand spun category. Jamie

Jamie... Heather, LEt`s be thankful for Benne and her keeping track of so much information on the chat center. Please e-mail me at jsc716@terra.com so that we can confirm this little business arrangement. I bought the last of the Marengo (It`s a lovely color line) and it arrived the other day so I`ll be happy to look at it a few days, then send it to you. I`ll have to check what the cost of postage will be. Let`s talk via e-mail. All the best to you. Jamie

Is it ever okay to make a knot? Big needle dilemma Hi Benne! My opinion (and I break rules when convenient) is yes, tie a knot (overhand looks pretty good). If you are using Sonata and #17 needles it`s an open knit fabric and a well placed knot will look fine. Jamie

If I didn`t love her so much I would not knit with turkey basters Hey Benne, Good luck on completing the project. I have knit with 17`s but don`t like it a bit. I bought a pair of 19`s but won`t use them. How can you control anything above 17 or 19? Hurry up and finish before you loose your love of knitting! All the best, Jamie
