Planning ahead...question for Ann
Thank you. Merci. Gracias. I`m such a wool fan and so miserably sensitive to alpaca, angora and mohair. 98 colors sounds like some difficult, but wonderful choices. Great for a Fair Isle project. Jamie

Where did all the Turino silk go?
Wow, ladies, I got on the computer a bit late. I just wanted a little bit off 5 colors. Got only 2! Who else missed out? I plan to use it in some weaving projects with other silk on hand. If I ever get up-to-date on digital cameras I`ll send you some pix. Happy knitting! Jamie

recycled silk
Hi, 5 200gr skeins = 1 kilo (1000 grams) so each skein would be $8. But that is $2 per 50 grams. 50 grams = about 1.75 oz. One kilo is 2.2 lbs. SOunds like a good price if it`s the recyled yarn that is so popular these days. Jamie

Sentimental Journey
Heather, I grew up in the San Joaquin valley and Pacific Grove was one of the place we would all wanted to move to; it`s a lovely plan, enjoy your memories. I spent about 9 months in Victoria, B.C. and I`ll be returning in late August to enjoy some of my memories on site -- also to take a look at Salt SPring Island! Jamie

Gathering on Salt Spring in September
Alice, You are such a dear putting this together. I looked at the calendar and have commitments for Sept.12-Sept.15 with some minutes due by Friday from the Mon. and Thurs. meetings. SO, the only chance would be a late arrival Fri, or mid-day Saturday from Denver for the second wknd. I would love to be there. I have plans to spend the last week of August, thru the Sat. before the US Labor Day, in Victoria. I will definitely visit Salt Spring Island--it sounds like the ideal place for this fiberholic to be--and write you ahead with details of that trip. The fall fair, and the chance to visit with some of the Elannholics and Ann C-B are really tempting for a return trip, even if ever so brief, in September. I will keep you posted over the summer. From Jamie who spent the day rearranging her office-bedroom and loom-knit-TV room with the help of 2 strong young men and now has to put all the books and cones of yarn back on some shelves in Colorado

Roll call: swap center
Hi! I have sold yarn thru the chat center, very smooth transaction, and recently bought some yarn thru the swap center, also a smooth transaction. Just wish that people would erase their messages from the swap center after a transaction is completed. I replied to one older message and got no reply. Generally transaction over the net have been good -- a couple of lemons thru E-bay; there you have to be careful to read and question some of the items. Of course, buying from Elann is simple and service is swift--must be why I`m nearing another $500 mark so soon! Happy knitting, Jamie

invisible cast-on?
Hi Bea, The only invisible cast on I have done is quite invisible as least to me. There is something about have a 1/2 stitch difference but it does seem to be a problem. Good luck. The Phildar Onde sounds strange; luck with it too. Jamie

Anyone Get Their Silk Yet??
Hey, Bets What kind of service do you get with parcel post (slow shipping?). I often use it and save a buck or two--the service is often just as good as Priority Mail. I got on early this week and will have enuf of one color to actually knit something special. But I still have to wait a few days. Happy knitting, Jamie

Anyone Get Their Silk Yet??
Hi Bets, Your service sounds like it`s about twice the time that mine is - to Denver area. Guess we get good service out of Seattle airport. Who know? Just hope my luck continues. I only order about 12-14 skeins of the silk. I did get the colors I wanted. My stash is go great and the hours I work are becoming fewer and fewer. Alas - the beyond middle age slow down! Jamie

Ann, is it true, is White Buffalo going to be gone forever?
Hi Ann! Oh, I am so unhappy to hear this news. Altho I have only been using WB since 1995, I have used a lot of it, and have a lot on hand, but really need some of the lighter colors in order to make some handsome patterns in sweaters. I make a lot of mittens and hats to sell, plus an occasional sweater and the WB has made a wonderful product. Hope it will go on sale early August or mid September. I plan to travel to Victoria, BC for a week at the end of August and would hate to miss it. Of maybe I`ll have to camp out on Alice Trueman`s or another good Canadian`s doorstep to plan an order from her house! I discovered WB in Victoria on a trip in 1995; my first trip since graduating Victoria HS in 1953!!! It has pretty much replaced Icelandic Lopi for me; I divide the 6 strands into three. Thank you so much for ordering one last shipment; the colors sound good to me. from Jamie in cold Colorado

Clever ladies, beautiful knitting!
Wow! I am so impressed every week with the fabulous projects that you all share. Beautiful lace works of late, plus all the great projects. When do you have time to knit! Don`t retire, ladies! Time just goes by so fast that I haven`t much time to knit! Have a great end of June! Jamie, in Colorado where it has been raining for 3 days now -- unheard of!
