Highland Chunky Sweater - Violet Heather?
|
It`s grape heather - I`m sorry that this color sold out more quickly than I expected, and won`t be available again until the next time we re-order Highland Chunky.

Are We Knitters Obsessive/Compulsive?
|
. . . or just irrepressibly creative?
Maddy Cranley (maddy laine) just sent me this link to a video on YouTube called "The Last Knit": http://www.youtube.com:80/watch?v=M6ZjMWLqJvM

Does Anyone Know if Devon Will Make Another Appearance?
|
Hi Jayne, No, I`m sorry it won`t. It`s lovely wool, but it didn`t sell fast enough to justify re-stocking it.

Jayne, if you`re on the "notify me if stock increases" list for this yarn, you`ll get an email if we find any final inventory, and add it to the website.

Hey Ann - how about the link for the newsletter
|
Hi Laura,
Yes, Joan`s right about the link always being basically the same, except for the month. The newsletters that include the link take days to send out - my apologies for the wait.

SK!!!

It definitely is fab - Margaux was giving me broad hints that it would be nice if a clone of it appeared under the Christmas tree for her - she couldn`t believe how light and soft it was.

Ok, I TRIED for Calmer
|
My sincere apologies to those of you who were disappointed this morning, particularly those like Mrs. P. who feel frustrated.
While you can keep items in your cart for an unlimited length of time, the inventory is not actually tied up and spoken for until you click "Place Order", and your payment is finalized. Our primary problem with programming it any other way is that temporarily tying up inventory would cause erratic inventory levels – it would allow unscrupulous shoppers and mischief makers to potentially tie up huge quantities of inventory, so that in extreme cases, there could be virtually no stock of a particular yarn at one moment, and then full stock the next, and this potential bouncing up and down of inventory would ultimately be more confusing and frustrating to our customers than the current system.
In a physical store, it would be impossible for a customer to hoard thousands of balls of yarn, even if only for 30 minutes. Because this possibility exists in the "virtual" marketplace, however, I always come back to the conclusion that we must leave our programming as it is. From our point of view, the problem you encountered where you and another customer wanted the same yarn at the same time happens only rarely, and is the lesser of two evils. Moreover, it levels the playing field, and is as fair as we are able to make it – first to pay is first to get the yarn.

4ply question
|
I usually get 19-20 st/4" (worsted weight), when I double 4-ply (which is usually 28 st/4" - fingering weight). My formula is 28 x .72 = about 20 st/4".

Silken Kydd-- what the pictures don`t show. . . .
|
Thanks for noticing this! I too was disappointed with the way this yarn scanned, compared to its silky beauty, so I`ve just taken photos instead - I think the chips now show the glistening silken core much better.
