ACB, about that Mon Tricot Stitch Pattern Book Too funny, Benne. I love that book. We got about a dozen or so copies in when Pingouin closed in Canada, and I think I sold them off *really* cheap!

newsletter via email Hello All,

The email I`m sending this afternoon, which has a link to the .pdf version of our print newsletter, Elann News, is actually different and separate from the newsletter that we send out to all customers toward the end of each month.

This is an all new idea, designed to put Elann News in the hands of all those customers who are not sample snips or sample skeins subscribers, but who have been receiving a printed copy of Elann News free, because they have purchased from us in the past.

If this idea is well received, we could make it available to all customers who wish it. Here`s a link to paste into your browser window to see the .pdf file:

Where`s the Baby Silk? I`m so sorry, Christine, and so glad you posted here about my date error. Baby Silk will be offered on Monday morning. Don`t worry, there is plenty of stock, so if you can`t order on Monday, you`ll have no trouble ordering on another day.

Summer Tweed color questions- Such a nuisance that snips have to get snipped! All colors shown in the scans are actually in the yarns, Bets.

Debbie Bliss Cotton Angora Thank you all for bringing the discrepancy in Cotton Angora lots to our attention. We had noticed that some colors were made in Peru and some in Italy, and had noted this on the site, but we had completely missed the fact that the colors made in Italy had a different yardage than the colors made in Peru. While both the Italian and the Peruvian versions are 80% cotton/ 20% angora, and while both are 18 st/4", the first yields 78m/85 yards per 50g ball, and the latter 90m/98 yards per 50g ball. In separating the two lots of colors, we have also found that the Italian colors feature a slight sheen to their cotton content, while the Peruvian colors bear a matte finish.

So that you will know which colors were made in Italy and which were made in Peru, we have now divided these into two separate offerings at the site. For those of you who have purchased colors now out of stock, you will be able to see, if you check your labels, that the Italian colors are labeled 78 metres (85 yards) per ball, and the Peruvian colors 90 metres (98 yards) per ball.

You have my sincere apologies that we did not notice this difference before we offered the yarn. If you have already purchased Cotton Angora, and these differences are going to cause a problem with your project plans, please email customerservice@elann.com, where you can be assured that we`ll do our utmost to correct the problem for you.

Debbie Bliss Cotton Angora You`re right, Benne - the Italian version definitely does have 20% angora in it, as stated on its labels. We have emailed with the parent company and they have confirmed this. They also explained that its yardage difference is due to different multi-end construction that produces a smooth, almost shed-free surface.

Baby Silk Question for ACB Trish, the Baby Silk Mobius pictured with HeartStrings A78, special elann edition:

was knit single stranded, with the needle size recommended in the pattern for fingering weight yarn - I`m sorry, I don`t have the pattern here with me right now to check that for you. It`s the 40" length that is pictured, which uses 400 yards of fingering weight yarn, single stranded.

Color query? Hi Pat,
Elann staff who work on graphics calibrate their monitors every month using the Pantone Spyder color calibration system, and then we adjust all our yarn colors using those monitors, for the maximum accuracy we can achieve. Unfortunately, as Skullyknits says, colors vary from monitor to monitor, and colors could look different for your friend.

Newsletter subscription question Les is right, Marie, and also, you can check your order history to see the month your last subscription began. Just log in, click `Your Account`, and then `View Your Shopping History`. You will want your new subscription to start that same month, but one year later.

Diamond Desire The Diamond silk blend yarn does have the characteristic silk gum smell. My experience with this smell has always been that it washes away after a first washing.
