Luna Skirt Hi Libby,
I`ve been thinking about your Riviera, because I love linen lace, but in the end I think you`re right that the variegation would detract from the lace pattern.

Ann - a lace question Hi Melanie,

I adapted the pattern for circular knitting, but knit flat, it`s a common pattern, and even easier to execute. From Harmony Guide Vol 2 - 440 More Knitting Stitches (p. 59):
Multiple of 10 sts + 1
1st Row: (RS) K1, *yf, k3, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k3, yf, k1; rep from * to end.
2nd Row: Purl.
Rep the last 2 rows 3 times more.

9th Row: k2tog, k3, yf, k1, yf, k3, *sl 1, k2tog, psso, k3, yf, k1, yf, k3; rep from * to last 2 sts, sl 1, k1, psso.
10th Row: Purl
Rep these last 2 rows 3 times more.
Rep these 16 rows.

Still can`t see the lace Yes, it`s best to resize your picture to 138 pixels wide before submission. That way you`ll be able to see what it will look like when posted, and you`ll be able to get the best bang for your file size,in terms of quality. Cropping in close helps in this regard too.

Ann - another stupid question about the Luna Skirt It`s not a stupid question at all, Theresa. I`m not sure I understand the mathematics of it completely myself, but if you knit the flat pattern in the round, probably because you are not knitting the "plus 1" with the multiple of 10, the pattern shifts over one stitch each round. To keep the pattern, I found I had to shift one stitch each round.

Ann - will there be more Camel-Silk ? Hi Christine,
I`m not certain if we`ll be able to order more camel/silk, but as luck would have it, we do have 2 balls right now that were just returned. Usually returns are put back into the website inventory, but these 2 balls have not yet been put back. Please email customerservice@elann.com, and Lorill or Diane can put an order through for you from this end.

Luna Skirt - Another question, Ann Hi T,
1. If you hang it up in the closet, does it get even longer over time?

I`m not sure - I`ve kept the model folded, but I`m guessing yes.

2. If I wanted to make it longer to begin with, would I need another one ball or another two in order to add another repeat at the 200 inches stage.

I think that 8 rows would take 2 balls - 16 might take up to 4.

3. Do you think, if I wanted it longer, that I should add the extra length earlier?

I guess you could, but it would no longer block into a circle if you added length in one of the earlier tiers.

Glad to hear you`re enjoying your swatching - funny you mention the long-sleeved close-fitting body suit - Margaux and I just bought a black one in a dance store!

Ann, is Sierra coming in colors soon? Colors are coming next month, Amy, but the dyed yarn will be more expensive than the undyed - it will be $2.98/ball. We thought we`d offer this product as a separate special to those who prefer natural arans, and those who like to dye their own.

Bolero Pattern Dear anemotis,
If you ever get caught without a pattern again, just email customer service and they can email you a .pdf version. Once a yarn is sold out, we take down its free pattern, so it`s a good idea to print off the pattern when you first see it. I`ve made both the long and short sleeved versions of the Bolero temporarily available for you at:

Need help. This stinks! Shui Kuen,
My understanding is that it`s the silk gum that gives silk that smell, and I think washing is necessary for all silks to neutralize it. My mother visited a silk factory in China, and she said that the smell of the place would just knock you over. I agree that it`s a good idea to wash the C/S - Woolite or Eucalan both work well.

Les, I`m glad to hear you were successful in neutralizing the smell - to be sure it`s gone, I`d recommend re-wetting and repeating until it`s banished!

Need help. This stinks! I don`t think there would be any advantage to this SK, and I think it would be a lot of work, because you`d have to put it in hanks first. I always think it best to knit the garment first, and then wash it afterward.

Libby, goods on the BC MS1 Libby - is the whole Mystery Shawl pattern now in public domain?

Need help. This stinks! No, I haven`t found any shrinkage with any of the Far East yarns. I think the silk smell depends on the degree of processing done to the silk in the manufacturing process. It could be that there is a chemical some mills use to neutralize the silk. The Far East yarns are natural, and have not been highly processed, so washing really does bring them into their own.

Libby, goods on the BC MS1 Hi Libby,
Thanks for the info. It sounds like the pattern is the domain of your Yahoo group. If there`s interest, maybe we should start our very own mystery project here.
