left handed knitting--I need advice!
|
Hi Bets, I`ve never tried left-handed knitting myself, but here`s a link to a basic reference source: http://secure.elann.com/productdisp.asp?NAME=My+Knitting+Teacher&Cat=&ProductType=1&Count=11
The topic is taken up in other reference books you may have access to as well – just type "left hand" into our first search engine, "Search by Item", and click "by description" as your criteria (instead of "by product name") – that way, all products with the words "left hand" in their description field will pop up for you!

Input Request - Highland Color Card Group
|
If you were developing a new luxury 100% merino wool, and you had to put together a palette of 24 colors, which had to include at least one choice from each major color group (e.g. neutrals, yellows, oranges, blues, greens, purples, etc), and you had to pick these from the 98 Highland Wool colors, which colors would you choose? And if you couldn`t do it because there were one or two other colors not included in the Highland range that you just couldn`t live without, what would these be? Ann:-)

Input Request - Highland Color Card Group
|
I sure appreciate everyone`s input!
I`ve mocked up a .jpg shade card of the 98 colors and put it on the server at http://secure.elann.com/highland.asp I`ll leave it there for the next day or two for anyone that wants to copy and save it to their hard drive.
It`s a mid-weight I have in mind for the merino - 96m/104 yards per 50g ball.
For inquiring minds, here are the 50 best-selling colors of Highland Wool to date, in order of popularity:

Thanks Everyone and More Challenges!

Thanks all for your enthusiastic color choice input. Thank you too, emily3cat, for noticing that black was missing from the color card I posted - I checked and found not 1, but 12 colors missing, so have loaded up a new card at: http://secure.elann.com/highland.asp
I have a new challenge for you on the same topic. For those of you who love heathers and want more, we`ll be offering Sierra in aran weight next fall, in 26 heathered shades - and Bets and Benne, there will be a dark red/black combo! For this fine merino, I`m thinking of, however, I`m thinking that the fineness and smoothness of the wool cries out to be in solid, dyed shades. How would this affect your choices?
I have another challenge too. If you were going to invent your own prints, what solid, dyed colors from the Highland Wool card would you combine?

Thanks Everyone and More Challenges!

How about 6 must-have combos? With solid color palettes, the aim is to have something for everyone, but with prints, larger quantities must be dyed at once, so every one of them has to be a block-buster!

Thanks Everyone and More Challenges!
|
Thanks once again all for your fabulous ideas. I`m sorry I wasn`t more specific - I didn`t want your imaginations to be constrained. My intent was to consider a printed version of the 100% merino, and the usual is 3 colors per print. Your questions about the length of the repeats is a good one - what do you consider ideal? Again, let`s visit the "best of all possible worlds"!

Do you have any Cotton Colori or Taj Mahal left over, Bets? Are you able to measure the length of the repeats in each?

Question for elann elves about Silk City Perle color
|
Hi Benne, Unlike most yarns that come from the manufacturers with color numbers only, Silk City yarns come with their own names, so we have used them. Pink pearl is definitely a grey, with a very slight pink cast.

Another question about Silk City Perle color
|
It`s greyish green, Marta - not yellowish. It`s name describes it well.
