HW Color card
|
Me too. I put my swatches on the chart that Peggy sent out printed on card stock. This was my job for Project Night Saturday, and Lo and Behold, Sunday when I checked the sneak peeks, there it was. I`m ready to pick. Had a hard time throwing away even the envelopes, it was so much fun to put names and where people are from together. Thanks again Jean. Daryl

Sapphire Alpaca
|
Can anyone who got the sapphire alpaca or the raspberry tell me how dark the blue is or how orangey the rapsberry. Are they comparable to any of the HW colors? I am craving both, but my monitor is horribly inaccurate as to colors and I`m not crazy about the color of "raspberry" Baby Silk, I want more of a pink. I keep wavering between the I HAVE to HAVE it and but then I won`t be able to get the wonderful stuff coming up and I probably won`t even use all that I already have before it is back NEXT year. Thanks, Daryl

Thanks for the description. On my monitor both your sweater and the sample look very pink, and I crave it to bring out the pink in #1 DD`s cheeks. Brick would do nothing for her, this will give me strength, hopefully until it runs out. The blue...Oh I am a bluebird, awfully tempted...Thanks for the quick response. Daryl

Opinions, please?

Oh Alice, now you have me madly twisting together samples of the sock yarn thinking of the improved quality of life the mother of a twelve year old would have with machine wash yarn of a heavier gage, in OUR choice of colors. I may have to up our intake, I just hope it lasts a while so I don`t figure out the perfect blend only to have it gone, but...there is always the justification of being preparted for next year...Daryl

I agree, Jean brings new meaning to the word elegance. She looks like she should be modelling, I`m only surprised that people think she is cradle robbing when she is out with her son. She doesn`t look much older, just more elegant than the average 18 year old. Daryl

Thanks for everybody`s contributions. I finally decided I just had to break down and get some for myself, but with the cashmere recently and the HW and sock yarns coming this week I managed some control and only got enough for scarves. IF I could just finish the Orlando poncho instead of ripping it out AGAIN, and start knittin my scarves for next Christmas, I might have half of them done, in the meantime I have now a couple of sweaters worth of HW, plus miscellaneous colors for projects for my daughters...I need a weekend to kit up my projects like Jean. HIghland Wool, what are you making with the color cards?
|
I`m trying to branch out and picked the greens and red maple and harvest heather to try Jean`s Horizontal Hues pattern, plus some Lace pink and grape to try felted baby booties, born last September but I just found out, and of course, a few blues, just because they are so beautiful and so soft. It certainly made a difference to really be able to see the colors and put them next to each other. Thanks again Jean. Daryl

Roll call: how many projects can you knit with your existing stash?
|
Funny timing, my plan for this weekend is to pull out all my yarn boxes, wallow for a few hours and then try to figure out how many projects worth I really have. Oh did I mention Locking my husband out of the room first ? Since I have been collecting for twenty years at a much greater rate than production, and the last six months on Elann has truly put me over the edge, I figured it was time...Jean really inspired me with her kitted yarn, and now that the girls are knitting I want to separate the yarn designated for a specific project from that available for creativity...Daryl

Advice on moth control
|
So, my earth (can`t spell the first part) came yesterday and I am planning on wallowing this weekend. Can I just sprinkle a little among the balls as I bag them by project and put them in plastic boxes? It won`t hurt the yarn? I plan on spreading out all over the floor, wallowing for a few hours, then a trip to Staples to copy patterns so I know the planned destiny, at least at this point, of different projects and don`t use something for another and end up short, then bag and box so I can pick for mood and complexity. I can hardly wait! Daryl

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHICKIE!!
|
MacChick- Chicklet`s birthday is October 12? What year? My DD#2 is October 12 1994!!! Would your little one have any interest in a penpal? Carinthia has been bugging me to find a pen pal for her for over a year, but we have yet to find someone who will write back on anything resembling a regular basis. If Chicklet is interested send me an email (Daryleliz@msn.com) at home and she will write this weekend. Daryl

Penpal for Chicklet.

It might be a little tough.I didn`t realize Anne was in kindegarten. Carinthia couldn`t read or write until first grade, but if she has any interest I think Carinthia would be willing to give it a try. They have a partner program at school in which the fourth graders match with the first graders to play once a week and go to Meeting for Worship together and she likes that a lot. I was thinking that they have ballet in common, and the doing with hands kind of thing, not to mention the birthday. Send me an email at home (Daryleliz@msn.com) if Anne wants to give it a shot and we will get a letter in the mail. If it is too hard and the gap is too great they can try again in a few years. Daryl

Terrific. The letter is in process. I didn`t check the computer over the weekend until last night so I didn`t know if it was a go from your end. I have your address from the HW exchange so we should be mailing soon. I LOVE Harry Potter and Carinthia has heard all the books on tape during long drives, but isn`t quite so enamored. She is a VERY picky reader, mostly Nancy Drew, the Dana Girls, and now Gone With the Wind for the second time. Daryl

Yippee, I did it.
|
I sent everyone off to see the Franklin Institute to see the Titanic exhibit and dragged all the boxes out of the yarn closet (formerly a linen closet complete with a wall of shelves with sliding glass doors and built in drawers). I filled the shelves with my cone yarn for weaving from last years Ebay addiction and opened all the plastic bins!! Yes I have 50 projects not including the various smaller batches for unplanned hats and scarves and such, only two of which I have dumped into the general bin for realigning as I would no longer wear the sweater for which the yarn was originally planned and haven`t picked a new pattern for that yarn yet. Does that stop me? NO, I then picked out a new colorway for the HW because now that I have my handydandy color card I found colors I like better than those I originally planned for DD#1, and will put that HW in the general mix and match cache. YIPES! But my sweet husband is in such a good mood as he finally has a contract for the house he remodelled that despite our floor being unnavigable due to piles of boxes and yarn he just smiled and said "Go for it". His binge was an exercise bike to get him through a basketball-less period as his Achilles tendon heels. This being over 50 and playing twice a week with 20 year olds does wreak havoc on a man`s body, about which I have been less than sympathetic in the past. I always went for the if it hurts when you do this, don`t do it, school of medicine. The girls alternate between riding the exercise bike and wallowing in my yarn. Daryl
