Ah hah!! So you took the mid indigo. I tried so hard to resist, then just as I gave in and started ordering the blue sold out. Serves me right for even attempting to resist!! Daryl

BC vs. Sock It To Me
|
TRanks for the idea Alice. I got hooked on Elann when the Puzzle was up last year, and finally got my lace socks finished, but was wondering what to do with the bit left. I love the idea of finishing off with a matching plain color. Daryl

Help with moths
|
Fantastic information ladies. We have had terrible problems with moths despite plastic bags and boxes. I will definitely head to Walmart, shudder, for Space bags. I have never heard of the DE. Where do you find this miraculous substance. I absolutely love the idea of cutting the little critters to shreds!! Daryl

Oh Benne:

Awesome poncho Benne, I ordered some of the Dali Mustard and have been saving it and collecting other yarns to go with for my green people. When I bought it I initiall ordered City Lights by accident and in some bizarre frugal twist sent it back. Now I wish I had kept it. Your poncho is Gorgeous!! I am INSPIRED. Daryl

I agree with MacChick, do what YOU need and want to do. If you want your job and ENJOY doing it, then fight for it, but if what you really want is to be home with your baby, then do that and to hell with the fact you already paid for daycare. Might not want to let the spot go until after next Tuesday, but it is ok to let her go and have some time to your self if you want and ok to pick her up if you want to be with her. I was a practicing ObGyn until DD#1 was in first grade and #2 was 4 and in preschool and I finally looked at my life and what I was missing and decided that even if we had to move I could never get back those years, but I have the rest of my life to practice medicine. Even if I "could" do it I didn`t WANT to and although I am grateful to all the women who fought for the right to work it isn`t the right thing for all women. Some women shouldn`t stay home with their kids, some women need to. Dole out your chocolate chips, knit, and think about what kind of person YOU are. Whatever you decide there are loyal fans supporting your decision. Daryl

Lilac mohair for DD#1 put on hold during Christmas, finished DH`s blue Watch cap last night, need to take pictures of everyone in their hats, unfortunately I gave away the ballet teachers and niece and nephew hats before taking pictures, I have to stop being lazy or move the camera from the third floor. I`m going to try again on the Orlando poncho for SIL, and I have aubergine baby silk for a moebius scarf to go with my nieces felted hat, and then I am craving to knit the Knitty coronet out of alpaca for my sister, and Lopi sweaters for the girls, and Benne has me inspired to go through the closet and assmeble yarns for the Dali poncho, and...

Hey MacChick
|
I was just rereading biographies trying to avoid doing any real work and realized that you grew up in Burlington Vermont, heading off to college just about the same time I was. Did you by any chance know Nancy Chickering? She was one of my best friends in school, would have been a year ahead of you, I thought she was from Burlington, but could be wrong. Daryl

Hi Benne, I have the mustard Dali, and some muted green LaGran mohair, and a cotton tape, plus I am thinking of adding some purple rayon chenille doubled which I bought for weaving and have a huge cone. I`m thinking of putting is a few rows of HW in either the Herb or the Peridot. Just waiting for a good sunny day which I can devote to wallowing in color,I mean "cleaning up the closet" of course, to haul the boxes out. So far it has been grey and miserable, ie bad light.

Hey MacChick

I think Nancy and her sisters may have even been home schooled for a number of years due to some of the same concerns as your parents. I know she went to public high school, only because she did gymnastics there. I think of Nancy often when I read your posts, or when they are particularly resonating with me at that moment in time. We do seem to have some strong parallels. We haven`t indulged in ballet pink, but Santa did bring yarn for the girls to make their own leg warmers. And the post in which you described wending a somewhat tortuous path between projects in process struck a strong chord. I only wish I had been home more, earlier, to do more of those projects before the other enticements of ballet class, piano practice and friends became so enthralling. daryl

Nirvana! BC box arrived!

I have UFO`s to carry, to work on while I read to the girls during piano practice, and different more complicated ones for the waiting room. I was thinking I need to put one by each telephone for those moments someone actually wants to talk and the cord isn`t long enough to reach the neares knitting bag. daryl

Look at Chicklet!
|
A truly adorable picture. How nice to see another girly girl. My eldest didn`t wear pants for anything other than sledding until the middle of sixth grade, last year. It was dresses everyday, with short of course so you could still go on swings and hang upside down on monkey bars etc. Her teacher almost had a cow one day when she whipped off her jumper so she could do gymnastics, not realizing that she was fully dressed underneath. The chemo caps for Barbi, mom, and child are brilliant! Now whenever we go on outings, such as an hour and half, plus getting lost time, to go the farm show yesterday, we all three have to have our knitting bags, just in case. Daryl

HW color card

Me too. I put my swatches on the chart that Peggy sent out printed on card stock. This was my job for Project Night Saturday, and Lo and Behold, Sunday when I checked the sneak peeks, there it was. I`m ready to pick. Had a hard time throwing away even the envelopes, it was so much fun to put names and where people are from together. Thanks again Jean. Daryl
