Terrific projects Farmin Garmon! I am so impressed. With all the spring farm work and still putting together such beautiful projects. I hope the spring craft show season goes well. Daryl

Don`t Do This You are actually an incredible mom to let her use those things, I was always too cheap, AND to pass along the painfully learned information to the rest of us. I hope she gets better VERY soon. Daryl

I don`t know how to continue...... Shoot, I`ve been craving, drooling after this, but when do I ever knit without the company of others? Somewhere, over the rainbow, quiet lies...Daryl

Walking and knitting I agree. There is even a fanny pack for knitters without the zipper which can snag yarn. I got one at Stitches the last time it was in Philadelphia and (yes, have made a copy or two, but only for myself). Next time I am home I will try to see if I still have their information. But basically it is a pull close bag with those metal eyelet things with a casing along the back through which you put belting and sew on those quick release clips which you can purchase at sewing stores. I`m blocking on the names for gadgets. VERY handy, and good for kid pickups and those times when you are standing around chatting to the moms.

Walking and knitting This is a link to the site for the woman who sells the most wonderful knitting and walking bags.

I agree with the problem with knitting with a bag dangling from your wrist, I want my hands free to knit. The same thing with a shoulder bag, it is an improvement, but it still falls off. This bag clips around your waist, no zippers to snag fragile yarns and is easily transportable for those walks with mindless knitting. I rarely buy a purse, have had four in my life, BUT LOVE bookbags, project bags etc. This was worth the money. Daryl

Circs vs. straight Ah Jamie, no feeling old and depressed. You must have started using circs at a VERY youthful age, one of those child prodigy knitters. No grounds for depression when you were ahead of your time in knitting and you can produce something beautiful in the company of like minded aesthetics. Wallowing in baby silk is a very good cure for depression...just don`t even look at what else is in the closet, or under the bed, or...Daryl

Barbara, great projects and very cool kitty! Your projects are lovely and certainly not "beginner". It is a treat to log on in the morning and see the activity, and an inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

Circs again I know this has been discussed but I can`t find the thread. I just started Alice`s sock pattern with two circs, which I LOVE, but I bought new Inoxs to do it with and the join between cable and needle is driving me CRAZY. The yarn snags every time I pull around. I love the tips, nice and pointy, and they are quiet, for unobtrusive unannoying knitting, but the join!!! What do you recommend for size 1 circs, good points, smooth join?

Ruth! What a gorgeous shawl and a lucky daughter! Me too, me too!

Barbara-cute BEAR! He is awfully cute. I`ve seen patterns for knitted bears, but somehow they never seemed to strike just the right appeal note. Your`s is perfect. Daryl

Circs again I actually have some Susan Bates straights that I bought for a change of pace after using nothing but circulars for years, and love them. They are what finally convinced me that there truly is a difference in needles, and worthwhile getting good ones. But I knit pretty loosely and I am afraid the 2s would be too big for me to do socks. They have "Quicksilver" down to 0s. Have you tried the Quicksilver? I sure like the price better than coughing up 25$ for needles when I already have some, just don`t like them. Daryl

Daryl! Sorry for the delay in response, don`t get to the computer much on weekends. The yarn is Encore acrylic, went for the Machine washable. I wanted to do HW, of course, but her flannel pants are such a brilliant lime green that after ordering various options and have them all look dingy with the pants I finally took the pants into the yarn store and went for visualised colore. It took a little more than one skein each of lime green and turquoise, with one and a half of purple. I`ve been wanting to do a sweater from one of BW slip stitch patterns for years, finally found the perfect excuse, and yes, my daughters are angelic about having me knit and sew for them. The oldest one lived in dresses until 7th grade (this year actually) which was heaven for a sewing mom. The younger lives in pants which I make from all the fun fabric which I don`t have the guts to wear in public myself. I LOVE having girls. The BW slip stitch patterns are really fun. I made some toddler sweaters pre children for friends, but never knit much when mine were small, always had someone on my lap and no one slept through the night for YEARS. I`m going to love having grand-daughters. Daryl

Daryl This is Carinthia. I just got your message. I saw the picture of you wearing the dress you designed. You look really nice and I really like the dress. I`m glad you like the flowerinas. I will try to write back to you as soon as I get the letters. I think I was reading The King Must Die in the picture. My teacher wanted me to read it.
Love,
Carinthia
