Wow! Suzann,
What a wonderful scarf and beautiful, intricate-looking cables! Isn`t that funny with scarves, I`m only on my third, but I always find after I`m well into it or done with it, that I wished I`d made the dimensions a little different, there seems a lot of variation in how people wear their scarves, and what looks best with the pattern, and you often can`t tell at the beginning. Can you post a pic of your Irish Walking Scarf or describe it? Sounds like your SIL and husband will be quite the handsome pair in their matching scarves!

HW: A cure? Bri,
Hope your cracked tooth is feeling better! I remember about 4 years ago chewing and suddenly the back half of my molar falling away. It was replaced by a crown which I kept for 3 years. Last year it really started causing me immense pain, and an emergency root canal made it all better. Isn`t it amazing how a little shopping can make the pain go away?! What 3 HW colors did you get?

EVILann, indeed! <Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran back!> Lol, yesterday I did hang some forgotten artifical wreaths I had instead of buying real (and I had thoughts of more $$ for yarn in mind)! Also, alpaca is coming back in Jan!

EVILann, indeed! <Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran back!> Benne, I`m going to play the enabler this time ;-), that merlot is nice looking! I finally got my Posie ordered last week, am in the midst of knitting the dk tweed version in boheme, and love it. In case you miss this offering, maybe there`ll be a third coming back of this yarn; I hope so, I`ve already picked out some favorite colors!

Gut wrenching! Bets,
Don`t be so hard on yourself, you got a sweater done, that means celebration in my book! It is beautiful, love the colors (did you do fair isle or intarsia or a combo?). Also, it is better to be too big than too small, and 2" does not seem too much anyways. Maybe DH could try it awhile before thinking of any drastic alterations. Just wanted you to know I think you did a terrific knitting job!

Looking for Gjestal Ren Ny Ull Superwash Sport 50g (1.75 oz) ball 256 Loden Rebekah,
I have one skein of the loden in the dyelot that you need (had bought it for an accent color, but never used). Tried to reply to your posting in the "Available for Swap or Sale" area but am not sure my reply went through (system went back to desktop!). Let me know if you still need it.

Successful gut-wrencher Bets,
So glad it worked out! Next time this yarn comes up, I`ll have to try it.

What are you making with the Peruvian Wool Bag Yarn? Sounds beautiful, Les. Only problem with the kid off the street model, is that you might not get the hat back!

Bri - slippers Bri,
Terrific mittens & slippers! I love that green, is it the forest glade heather? Where do you get the fleece insoles? And what kind of yarn used for the mittens? Your college advisor is one lucky person!

Highland Wool Color Card Jean,
Fleeting wistful thoughts of an HW card had occurred to me too as I was trying to pick coordinating colors for the ribbed cardi! I was thinking of one compilation master card with all the colors that we could kind of round robin share among us but that seemed unworkable, as I`d probably keep the card too long! Maybe Elann could make up HW color cards before the next offering, that could be ordered for a fee?

NOT for the faint of heart! Les,
Thanks for the link! I may have a candidate for this type of fix--a fitted raglan that I realized the body was too big but the sleeves too tight once I sewed it up. Would have to undo sleeves, and then do this fix to the body, redo sleeves...am I bold enough, or maybe I`ll just frog the whole thing and make a poncho!

Okay, yarn rangers, I resisted! Benne,
I was wondering about you and the merlot, when it was gone at 9:08 today! Be strong, and resist, more great yarns are sure to come!

Kim, Very nice hat & scarf! Kim,
The hat looks so nice and scrunchy, reminds me of the one on the cover of the latest reprint of Elizabeth Zimmerman`s K W/O Tears! Also the scarf looks like it will lay very well underneath a coat without creating any bulk which is sometimes just what a man wants. Nice knitting job, and I like the color, too--very much like chocolate truffle & coffee bean brown, my favorite HW browns.

Short rows Carrie,
Besides the excellent online references from Eileen (just spent 10 minutes in awe over Bonnie Burn`s photos--short rows to the max!), any of EZ`s or Meg Swansen`s books that have directions for seamless raglan or yoke sweaters would have directions for short rowing. In their applications, the short rows are added to the back of the sweater, to raise the back neckline. I`m working on a sweater for my husband currently where I have to add short rows to the front to accomodate, well I`ll just have to say it, a beer belly. I need the front to be about 2" longer than the back before getting to the armholes, so I`m using my row gauge to figure out exactly how many short row pairs I have to knit to get this extra length. Another good book reference for short rows is Maggie Righetti`s "Sweater Design in Plain English", also I think her other book "Knitting in Plain English" covers this topic. Also, it is out of print now, but maybe your library system has it: "Great Knits: Texture & Color Techniques" (this book is one of the Threads compilation of articles) has an article by Lily Chin on knitted darts using short rows. HTH, you might just need a couple pairs of short rows to get your tad bit more of length!

Yarns for December ... please forgive me for I will sin! I haven`t received my newsletter yet, BUT I still have my unknitted samples from last Dec of the baby silk & baby cashmere. Let`s say my taste back then was not quite as refined as now, lol! I`m going to take out some size 3 needles (never knitted that small gauge before) and see if I like it. Thanks for the advance warning!

Stash Reduction Gaa..ah, Bets, 4 FO`s!! I`d better put down that baby silk sample right now, and finish the ho-hum scarf!

I caved . . . confessions of a yarn addict. Yes, Donna, there must be some psychological factor going there! More than once, I`ve been the last one to ante up to a dwindling color. Glad that you got it AND that it was a color that you wanted!
