Wonderful Projects Was offline for a couple weeks and came back to an incredible sidebar of projects. Socks and scarves and shawls and sweaters. Great work all.

Not much knitting to report on my end. Did finally finish the body of the vest for dad, now need to block and do the edges. Have a garter stitch shawl on the needles at work for those long conference calls. Hope to post pictures soon.

OK....you have me convinced.....almost - Author: OMAW I`d go with a nice superwash for an elderly Mom. That way you can avoid accidental felting.

Speaking of shawls - looking for a pattern I have in mind a shoulder wrap size shawl - something lacy in a crescent shape for DK or finer yarn.
I thought I`d seen one on a blog, but of course I can`t locate it now.

I have the Stitch Diva wrap in this shape, but it is designed for furry bulky and won`t work. The Spiral Nebula is close, but not quite the right shape.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Continental or English? CT. I`ve tried throwing, but it doesn`t make sense to my hands. The lady who taught me to knit tried teaching English, but when I couldn`t get it showed me CT and that works for me.
Need to learn to throw for fair isle one of these days.

pink mohair For the most even dye job, you`ll need to unball the yarn and wind it into large skeins. A swift is the fastest way, but winding on a back of a chair works.

If you are very adventurous, you can dye in the ball for a very verigated tonal look. Soak the balls in water until they are completely soaked through, then squeeze out excess. Mix a few packets of koolaid in enouch water to barely cover the ball in a crockpot set on low. Then add the balls (don`t crowd) and let set for a few hours. Check after a while and move the balls around. Turn off the crock and let set till completely cool.

The bottom and the outside of the ball will absorb the most color. In order to even out the color a bit when knitting, reball a couple (so the darker color is now in the inside) and knit with 2 balls alternating every 2 rows.

I don`t recommend this for folks who prefer even, matching, or symmetry in their knitting as the results are quite variable. But if you have a wild streak (or are like me and too lazy to bother with skeins) its really fun.

Hey, T! Your HUGe gift is on the road again Glad you liked it Jayne. I`ve got to mix another batch as I forgot to hold some out for me and gave it all away. We tested quite a few mixtures before deciding.

Has anyone done the two socks on two circs? I`ve done it and enjoyed it. I used 2 separate balls. I`d recommend the method.

Oh, rats! Don`t look at the sneak peeks! Very nice stuff. Good thing I`ll be in meetings and can count on others to buy it all before I`m too tempted.

Bets - thanks for the good tip I wanted to share with others.
I`d made a sweater out of the Jazz for Miss M (fuzzy light pink, what more could a little girl want).
The yarn is rather floppy and the neck kept sagging. I had crocheted a couple rows to give it some structure, but it didn`t quite work. Bets said, "crochet a row of Esprit" Well, that was just the trick. The neck lays just where it ought to and looks great.

So order a skein of Esprit in every color as you just never know what else may need a quick tweek.

suggestions to forestall shortage? Switch to a large guage lace pattern on the bottom of the cardigan so there is less yarn used or do the sleeves in a lace.

How do you back up computer knitting patterns? After experiencing the woe of a crashed disk, we back up our entire system weekly. We have a separate hard drive (used to use tape, but now have too many files) and run a backup program. It cost a bit to set up the system, but beats losing everything.
If the system crashes, we can restore it all, including the knitting files.
