Highland Wool I`ve felted many swatches and 3 small purses with the HW. Each color felted slightly differently. I`d try a swatch of the color(s) you were planning to use and see if you liked it.
I think it would make a great felted pillow.

need help with some stictches Most European patterns tend to have selvage stitches where many US patterns do not. If they don`t have them, I always add them as I think they lead to neater sewing later. The selvage stitches are the first and last stitch for the piece. There are several ways to knit them, my favorite is to slip the first stitch as if to purl and knit the last stitch. This yields a `half` stitch on each edge, it will seam very easily and not add bulk. These stitches are not counted or measured in a gauge swatch since they dissappear when seaming.

I don`t know about a double stitch. I`ll check my pattern books and report back.

question about reconstructing a sweater I`ll comment on the silk aspect. I have one (not Noro) that grows a little with each washing. I was told this was common, the process may be abated somewhat by dry-cleaning instead of washing. I bring this up because you may find after hemming, it grows too long again.

Flower Basket Shawl Satisfaction WOW! I`ve wanted to make this since I first saw it in the mag. What yarn did you use? Think I could use Uros (with appropriate needle change)? I have a few skeins left over.

need help with a HW / Outback Mohair color combo I was wanting to combine the Outback Mohair in Lavender Sunset with a purple HW, but am having trouble choosing the right one. The mohair is `pinker` than I was looking for and I wanted to `purple-it` for a felting project.

I realize I could order a skein of all the purples left in stock. However, with the house full, 4 boxes under my desk at work, and December yarns not yet posted, I was trying to minimize the order.
Thanks

question on BR178`s slippers Did you use HW and a mohair, or just HW? Also, I`ve found that each time I`ve tried a BevG pattern, it comes out way too big. I`m currently doing bootie style slippers with HW and had to go down 2 sizes over what was suggested in the pattern as the first one was way too big after serious felting and shrinking.
Any tips?

Knitting books for novices My all time favorite beginner book is Vouge Knitting, the Ultimate Knitting book. It doesn`t have as many patterns as the Sally Melville Books. But I think the pictures and instructions are clear and cover many techniques. It is definitely not geared to women or teens. It covers the basics with good instructions for designing a sweater.

wrong day for internet to be down Did that silk go fast or what? The internet went down at home, I had taken today off so surfing/buying at work was not an option. DH finally got it up and running, but 3 colors were already gone. My stash will be all the poorer for not having 22 balls of raspberry sitting around waiting for me to finish the other 30 projects ahead of it lol
Looking forward to ordering some next winter (hint, hint)

wrong day for internet to be down Thanks for the sympathy. Yes, I ordered a few skeins of the aubergine. I ordered 1 each of the violet, cornflower, salmon and peridot to make a hat from a minnowknits pattern. I really, really, don`t need any more yarn. The house is full and I have 4 boxes under my desk at work. It`s just one can`t resist such nice stuff.
