Scullyknits--great adaptation!

Thank you for your kind words. I`m half way done with a copy for her best friend. While it is a summertime top, its still in the 80s here so it has a little life. I do wish I`d made it a tad bigger, but I was afraid the cottom would grow so I erred on the small side.

This is a really nice yarn. While I went whole hog with 10 of the colors, each on their own is wonderful. The brown, darker red and some of the blues are suitible for boys who don`t want to wear girly colors. I`ve got my eye on a couple of the colors for a summer tank of my own. It is a tiny bit stiff while knitting from the linen, but upon washing becomes very soft and comfortable. I think one could make interesting shadow patterns using a couple of the coordinating colors.

LOOK AT THE PEEKS! You too, April!

Even looking at the mohair I need to knit isn`t keeping me from this lovely stuff. Don`t be posting on that R site - so it lasts longer than 5 min <she says with a big greedy grin>
I`m thinking this is just what I need for entrelac shawl. Now what color......

Circle coats - Alice or anyone?

I`ve noticed all the patterns call for sleeve placement such that the sleeve is equal to 1 unit of the wedge. That is between the bands of increase lines. Can you think of any reason I couldn`t make a sleeve wider than a wedge, so long as it was properly centered and I re-established the increase pattern? Seems to me it should be OK, and that the sleeve=wedge could be becuase it is easier to explain in a pattern. I could try it and see what happens, but it isn`t very easily frogged yarn and so I thought I`d ask first.

Hi, I`m new and I`m stuck
|
Disclaimer, I`ve not knit this cardigan, but I did look at the pattern. It is a variation on the feather and fan where the decreases are clustered in the center of a series of increases. Here the pattern is split and staggered to give the plumes rather than waves.
The repeat lines show the 6YOs followed by a cluster of decreases that equal 6 in the first series and the order is reversed in the next. the `repeat` as shown gets split so 3 YOs and 6 decreases are balanced after the repeat line by 3 YOs
If you look at the pattern chart, ignoring the repeat lines, there are 3 YOs, 6 decreases, followed by 6 YOs, the first 3 YOs balance the decreases just made, the next 3 YOs start the cycle over.
It seems like one adds fewer than taken away, but it is an illusion caused by the placement of the repeat lines, since the last 3 YOs balance the decreases at the begining.
Hope this helps

My latest thorny issue
|
I see it a bit different than others. If its cold, babies are often swaddled in blankets which can cover ears. However, since most of body heat is lost through the head, babies can benefit from wearing a cap in a chilly room, even if it doesn`t cover the ears.

Hey there girl. It takes quite a knitter to enhance her stash from a hospital bed :) You concentrate on knitting your body back together so we can continue to enjoy your company. Suppose we can get Les to make another of those cheesecakes?

or at least the yarn equivalent. Mis-read the pattern and could use a couple more skeins of the Inverno in the Dragonfly color. Thanks

Finish your sweater, then I`ll take the left overs :) That way, you are sure to have enough if you decide to change patterns.
