I love this phrase,`...one of those yarn stores that has less yarn than I do..." I used to wonder how they stayed in business. They are like those very empty clothing stores where T-shirts sell for $200.

I`m voting with McChick, RED!!!!!!! The Celery is too light. Cedar would be my second choice. But the Red is the way to go.

I was going to ask the same question. Not clear to me if the Cuzco is triple stranded just like the orginal wool.

Several of those featured patterns are for sale, not free. I was surprised as I too thought they were free. We are so very spoiled here.

Ravelry Question

What does Ravelry offer the non-blogger-not much computer time-no way I`m going to post my stash- person? Is it worth signing up just to cruise occasionally?

Apparently, knitters are a dangerous lot...

Here in our county courthouse, no knitting period. Such a drag.

Do I want a Denise needle set?
|
I don`t care for them. I do like the Knit Pic needles. They come in a set or you can order a cord and a needle in your favorite size and try them.

Machine Washing Highland Wool?
|
My machine only produces felt. Even the gentle cycle is too much. Pillowcase would only increase the probability as it gives the wool something to rub against.

Machine Washing Highland Wool?
|
I use Eucalan for all my delicates. Work great on bra, hose the like. As for silk scarves, I learned the hard way one has to be careful there. It depends on the finish. I have one that I washed no problem. One that I washed, and it never was the same. Stayed wrinkly even when ironed. So now I use the cloths that you put in the dryer to mimic a dry clean.

ADVICE please?? & More Support for Suzann
|
I second T`s advice about knitting in a small gauge, it will give you more control on the shape. If you can get a copy of Debbie New`s book Unexpecting Knitting from the library, she has a workshop on knitting curves. The increases are all about the radius of curvature and I don`t think I could explain it.
I`m going to go out on a limb here and offer my thoughts on the Eragon dragon. It is described in the books as very glittery scales and I`ve always pictured the surface as something like a shiny blue armadillo. The pictures are very chiseled, industrial, some of the detail reminds me of steel rivets. For me, knitting gives one a softer, less defined look. Felting would make it look less `knitted` but won`t give one the industrial look of the drawings.
I`m worried that your nephew may break your heart by rejecting the dragon you`ve designed and won`t appreciate your hard work. I speak from my experience in knitting for my daughter. She`s rejected nearly all I`ve knit for her, all my own designs with lots of input from her. I`ve come to understand that if I make something in her size, it has to be because I want to design and knit something in that size. I`m not knitting it for her, I`m knitting for me, in her size. That way if she won`t wear it it doesn`t matter as my pleasure was in the process.
Designing is a very fun challenge. I can`t imagine trying to do it in 3D. When you are done, you should sell the pattern.
