Thank you Welcome, Nicole! I just checked out your blog. I love your blue cardigan, and the yellow one, also.

shawl wearability? Some people are shawl people, others aren`t. I for one, LOVE shawls, but in Michigan, we have plenty of opportunity to wear them. Even in summer, I wear one from Prism`s Light Stuff, or at night, any fiber goes, as the temp drops. I`m just salivating over Benne`s shawl!

P.S. Saw the other post about the bloggers, and forgot to sign off like they said before - sorry!

Evelyn! That`s a hoot! Calamintha,
Thanks for the tip! I`ve had a Sears front-loading washer for a few years-- Sounds like they`re not comparable to top-loading; but, will felt.

It also sounds like I`m going to need to send a series of wool swatches through on laundry day to figure out the best time and technique.

Thanks!

crochet question Hi Bri -

I`ve never heard of a double chain row; must be new crochet stuff (I am out of the "loop" on the new things!) Perhaps the directions mean to use a row of double crochet? That is commonly done, and also leaves a nice edging.

Baby Cash goodness I got my Baby Cashmere in the Peacock, and it is so lovely! I am thinking about the Swallowtail Shawl in the new IK magazine. . .

yarn stash overhaul Hi patw,
I`ve started using grocery-store-bought under-the-bed
plastic rectangles that zip around three sides and are clear on top. Within these I buy Jumbo Ziplocs (bigger than the gallon size)to keep individual projects together. I used to use Rubbermaid bins and boxes but I discovered the hard (finacial) way that out of sight is out of my mind -& would re-buy my favorite colors etc.

Now I stack three of these approx 4` by 2` bendable plastic rectangles on top of 2 rubbermaid bins that are side by side on the bottom.

This way I look at everything in these top 3 thingies when I go to look for something.-- So I review what I own.

Lastly, I sort my stash by season (summer yarns are now below in the bins) and general quality of yarn -- i.e. washable blends for the kids, & unjustifiably-purchased great yarn.

So, my stash tip is;
Gotta see it frequently to use it,

GRRRRR!!! It`s &*^% Monday alright! Welcome to the three sleeve club!
I decided to knit one of my daughters long sleeves w/ 12" circulars starting by picking up stitches around the armhole.

Great idea in theory -- But my Brown Sheep cotton fleece (80% cotton 20%wool) became terminally stretched and just bad-looking as I progressed down to the cuff. And it wouldn`t block out.

So I now am making two more sleeves on regular single point needles.

I feel your pain !
Sometimes the best way to learn & remember something is to first really #$%$# it up!
That`s my knitting mantra,
Trish BCG
