Need advice on yarn for scarf Hi Josie!

Welcome! I love the idea of the knit-2 purl-2 rib, and the Sierra Aran, one of my favorites. I would say a minimum of 5 skeins, perhaps 6 to be sure, depending on your stitch pattern and whether you use fringe. Plain garter is also fine, and will go quickly with the Sierra Aran. Post a pic when you are done!

Knitty surprises I NEVER went out in curlers, but my sister did, and she looked ridiculous. My mom wore pin curls, and never went out like that; she also wore a babushka to cover it up! My sister used empty juice cans for BIG curls.

Elann Gift Card I would never let my husband see my Elann account! Or, any yarn account, for that matter!

Elann Gift Card I wish my husband would get an expensive hobby.

Halloween I have a tummy ache this morning! I don`t even like that cheap candy. I ate 5 pieces just waiting for it to taste better, but it never did. :)

Tarzan lost a front tooth to a sucker today. Actually, his brother hit him with a soccer ball 2 weeks ago, and the sucker did the rest.

Question about giftiness for school personel I have educators in my family, and they tell me that they never eat anything they are given as a gift, especially if it was homemade. I wouldn`t, either. They like to receive gift certificates for the teacher store and book stores, or, a nice department store.

My son`s first grade teacher last year was a saint, so I gave her a very nice wind chime; I went overboard, but she lives on a lake and collects wind chimes - she loved it. The homeroom classes in my kindergartner`s school have animals for mascots. Imagine all the bunny, turtle, etc. paraphernalia the teachers get every year. Same thing with mugs, pins, and ornaments. It`s a big waste.

This year, I do plan on giving the SPT and PT a gift, because they are exceptional. The teachers will get a nicer gift than the aides, and the bus drivers will get a little something (don`t know what, yet). There is only one other child on the bus who gives the drivers gifts.

I wouldn`t knit for any of them unless I knew them well, and understood their tastes.

Question about giftiness for school personel The problem with food gifts, is that you have to know if the person is a diabetic or has some food allergy, preference, etc. Donuts make me sick (can`t even stand to smell them), so I wouldn`t use a gift certificate to a donut shop.

It`s a shame you just can`t give someone a small gift out of the goodness of your heart, and have that person treasure it, but when you have 6 dozen "Teacher" coffee mugs in your garage, well, that is a bit much.

And Bets, you may be taking your life in your hands! My sister refused to eat home made cookies from one little girl after getting to know the family. Cigarette ashes, dog hair, etc. on the kids clothes may have ended up in the batter.

Question about giftiness for school personel No. I would gobble it (if it were good chocolate)

Question about giftiness for school personel Bets, was it a chocolate nativity?

Oh, and Evie, if you were my bus driver, I would have gotten you a present.

OT. Long Lines? We also voted absentee. I would stand in line for 3 hours though, but I would bring a lawn chair.

Election Gee, Bets, does that mean you are celebrating?
;)

I`m too excited and happy to work. I didn`t get much sleep last night. I woke my 9-yr old up to watch the acceptance speech. My mom used to plunk me in front of the TV when Kennedy was on.

Hi Too funny, as I have been thinking about you a lot. I meant to e-mail you, and now here you are.

So glad things are coming together for you. Although I have only tapped into spinning briefly, I found it to be like quilting for me - extremely therapeutic, and deeply connective, in a primitive way.

Will be be seeing some of your hand spun on etsy? Count me in!
