Reading and knitting revised Hey Jayne -

Let me know how well you like the audio books. Did you get the abridged versions? I used to do a lot of driving with my job, and listened mostly to music and NPR, but I never considered an audio book because I didn`t want to listen to an abridged Reader`s Digest version of the original work. Unless a book is terrible, I love to pour over every word, even though I read quickly. I don`t want to miss anything! I think knitting and listening to books at the same time will tap into regions of my brain which haven`t been touched in awhile. (Wow, all this on half a cup of coffee!)

Finished my black Katrina sweater! The black Katrina V neck is sooooo classy!

Is this the sweater with the sleeve rebuild, Jayne?

I`m still working on my sweater`s last sleeve maybe tomorrow. . .

Boy, do you have a sweater`s worth of extra back Katrina for me? ;-)

Sample skeins arrived today Boo Hoo ! I`m cryin` like a baby, suecq. I live in Northern Calif, and when I read your post, I ran out at 6am to see if I had accidentally left the thick mini skein envelope in my mail box -- No Luck !

Elann must send them out on different days -- I just can`t explain how you could get yours in FL on wed. while I`m still waiting. . . . .

Helen Hamann & Elann`s Asymmetrical Jacket Pattern I`m very happen to see this project on Elann`s homepage. --- I emailed Helen last week when I saw this pattern (in another yarn) on her web site to buy it. (It`s not in her book) She replied that she had sold `many` patterns to Elann. So, it looks like if I buy some Elann Sierra Aran, I may get the pattern as a bonus!

But, wait, I thought I was done buying yarn forever after I purchased all that Elann Baby Cashmere --- Guess I`ll have to disappoint myself and go back on my word!

Doubling BC to make the Blue Sky cardi pattern Hi Jayne,
I`m currently swatching/playing with some Blue SKy 50/50 Alpaca and Silk in sportweight -- and yep, doubled, it drapes differently that the Elann BC doubled.

Also, I must be a pathologically tight knitter --
my favorite doubled Elann Baby Cashmere gauge is 20-21 per 4" on US size 9 / 5.5 . .

Am actually considering making a quite slimmed-down Assymetical Jacket from BC doubled or tripled--

Looking forward to hearing about your progress. . .
Don`t fight the urge to pet your Baby Cashmere. . that`s the fun part!

Helen Hamann & Elann`s Asymmetrical Jacket Pattern Yes, you`re right in all respects.

I haven`t actually seen the pattern yet, Joan, but I am planning to slim that pattern down significantly. I LOVE long sleeves, but don`t need sleeves the size of small blankets... It`s very loose and may well adapt to my novice attempt to adjust it.

Yep, doing all those skeins worth of seed stitch is not on my instantly-gratifying list, either-- I could play with the texture by using another all-over stitch from the vogue knitting book series- - -
The patterns certainly much more interesting because of the texture, IMO.

And finally, yeah, I DID break my yarn-abstinence promise big time.

Thanks for your comments!

I`m Having an Affair! (Not with Mr. Joe) I just purchased the KnitPicks Options needles set, and oh boy! I am in love! I never thought I could love again after being with Addi Turbo for so long. I have a full review on my blog, but I wanted to come clean here, first! (I`m holding them now)

I`m Having an Affair! (Not with Mr. Joe) I am also thinking of using the Baby Cashmere for the Swallowtail Shawl. I think it will work out just fine, as I would like the shawl to be bigger, anyway. I`m itching to get started, but my Koigu is also calling me for Charlotte`s Web!

Boye Needle set vs Denise`s vs KP`s Circular Sets Trish MMM did a wonderful comparision of the new KP`s vs Addi`s on her blog-- I got Boye Needle-set as a gift when I first started knitting a few yrs ago -- I remember repeatedly having trouble with the screw-in needles unscrewing while working & it was quite a hassle--so I stoppped using them.

I see all the benefits that she does re: the KP tips vs the Addi`s ; but I`m wondering how the KP screw-in join is going to be better than the Boye`s were-- a longer length of screw would certainly help -- but that isn`t apparent in the KP photos --

On the other hand, Denise`s set have a snap-in mechanism that has never failed me by coming apart --- and the tips are almost too sharp -- but, Trish MMM is right, plastic does not feel great in the hands...

The Baby Cashmere cardi experiment is working It looks great! Love the color-- & Wow -- you did alot in 1-2 days!

I JUST finished my 3- sleeve sweater -- now it`s off to shower, then I need to stuff all that Baby Cashmere into an under-bed storage thingy, then treat myself to lunch.

ps I`m not surprised your black Katrina sweater has a busy social life!
