White Buffalo Yarn Thanks for the info, Jamie. After spending 20+ years in Wyoming and Denver, I still find myself being attracted by sweaters and now wools and patterns that are far too warm for SoCal (local abbr.) and for me, now in my 13th year of hot flashes! LOL!

A knitting friend asked me who I was going to make sweaters for with all the HW and HW-chunky I bought in December, enough for 6 or 7 cardis or pullovers. Ummmm.....

FYI I got one of those Ott lights, too. But I`ve looked at the last 2 or 3 of my VISA bills and there`s no little unknown charges. Guess I lucked out.

help, please! Beth Brown-Reinsel teaches that Norwegian Purl. I took a class from her last fall at the TKGA conference here in Burbank. It`s a neat way of purling without moving the yarn to the front, and very useful for two-color knitting. I could do the NP, but she quickly lost me when she got to the two-color part. I`ll get that one of these days!

New Member Hello! I`m quite a new member of this group, too. Everyone is so helpful and knowledgeable, with terrific ideas for new projects. The Elann yarns are great, and their prices are amazingly low. I haven`t written my bio yet, but I posted several pictures of my finished projects.

Buy This Book! I certainly agree with Benne! My copy has all sorts of bits of yarn <G> marking the `best` entries! Stephanie P/M is coming to LA in August, and I`ve already called the shop where she`s visting to be put on the list for hours, etc.

I really enjoy her blog. And she is the designer of my favorite baby sweater, the Daisy at Knitty.com. That`s the design I used for the blue & green striped one in my photos.

Don`t Hate me Because I bought the very last ball of Sonata Nah, someone had to buy it and it should go to a knitting friend like you! Sonata was my very first Elann purchase!

Last year, as a newbie overcome by all the wonderful yarns, I was lucky; I only bought a couple of yarns (NOT from Elann!!) that I`m now wondering why on earth I chose them. A month or two ago I was reorganizing my stash and came across one of those yarns. As it turns out, the Glacier Blue Sonata will turn those nearly-orphaned yarns into a nice lightweight cardi, worked as a duo. I`m planning on making them into one of the Just One More Row patterns, sometime soon.

Knitting Reflections Amen to that!! Yes, people can buy 6 or 8 ounces of Red Heart for $2 or so, but it`s acrylic! Now that yarn has its uses, but it is no contest between that and the tactile pleasure of HW or Baby Silk or Baby Cashmere!!

WHAT is on the needles? Just finished my 10th preemie cap; one of the local NICUs begged for some via our Project Linus group. It`s good practice with dpns. I`m about 2/3 into a shawl for my Mom. Pattern from Lion Brand, works with all sorts of yarns, this one in Caron Simply Soft acrylic - needs to be wash/dry-able. Next up, getting started on an all-over cable vest for DH, in dusty teal HW and trying to finish the 2nd cat bed in Gjestal Naturgarn (sp?).

WHAT is on the needles? I`m planning on making the Knitty.com Cozy, in a cotton yarn I found at 20% off at the LYS. Any tips, or special things to watch for in the pattern??
