Saved from Silk City Perle WOW! I just logged on at 9:01 by my PC clock, and the three colors of Silk City Perle (silvery gray?, juniper and sage green) that I was deciding between are gone already!! OK, that means I don`t buy any this time around - my budget is happy, but... but.... Where`s that 12 Step program??

Bets - LB shawl pattern I looked pretty carefully at the LB free patterns but I couldn`t find the `doily lace` pattern for your lovely shawl. Can you clue me in on the pattern name as listed? TIA

And now I have to do this without chocolate.... Glad to have you back and to know that you have survived an incredible series of SNAFUs (if you don`t know what that stands for, email me!) with your sense of humor intact. You are awesome, woman! And with friends who can point you to pareve (kosher) chocolate, too!

There`s a fiber object from me in your future mail; I was just too distracted by Alice`s retreat, the run-up period (packing for 10 days!) and the recovery, to get it done yet.

Hugs to you, Jonathan, and the rest of your long-suffering family! I can testify from my personal Vancouver experience that online friends are REALLY good friends!

Whatch going to make w. the Silk City Perle? So what colors did YOU score (says most enviously)??

Whatch going to make w. the Silk City Perle? Just curious - can you REALLY make a shawl with Silk City Bounce? I get using stretchy yarn (SITM) for socks, but doing lace? Wouldn`t the stretchy part counteract the blocking out of the lacy, holey bits??

About that new IK... Joining you on that. IWK is perhaps the worst, but it`s not alone - pictures that show only one side, no closeups of complicated sections, etc. etc. If only all these slackers (prof. photographers not familiar with the equipment??? Come on, get real!!) would study the GOOD photos! Example - Cheryl Oberle`s Folk Shawls book; the pictures are crisp, full-size while still showing details, etc. Whoever she hired is wonderful!

First Steps on the Yarn Diet BTW, in support of my yarn diet program, I wanted to report on my LYS`s private sale on Sunday. They had 25% off ALL yarns and an additional 10% off any sale yarns. I looked, and looked for more than an hour, and found nothing I liked that was available in sufficient quantity.

Then finally I found a combination of two colorways with enough to make a jacket, plus yarn for 2 pairs of socks. At the last moment, I pulled out the jacket yarn to be put back. So I came home with just 2 pairs of socks-to-be.

I kept telling myself, `well, I have something like this one`, `what about the scarf/shawl`s worth you have in a similar yarn?`, etc. And of course I was thinking about today`s Perle. It helped me to be strong.

Did you see the carpetbag in the fall IK? I guess it takes longer to send magazines to California. IWK, where are you?

Bri, what is your take on the Gjestal versus the Lopi versus the HW? My catbed is the only felting I`ve done and it`s with the Gjestal; I liked the way it turned out, but it IS just a catbed.

Did you see the carpetbag in the fall IK? You`re right. It`s good that they can`t spell or type or read. Both of them seem to think that the best use of a keyboard is a place to prop the other end of my arm (my hand), so they can more comfortably drape their chins over my wrist. This leads to frustration on my part because of not being able to type. *grin*

The "Just" part was that the catbed didn`t have any careful shaping or edges, in case I screwed up.

First Steps on the Yarn Diet Thanks for the encouragement. I`m going to go pet my silk yarn now, and remember that there wasn`t any yarn at the LYS that was nearly as nice - well, maybe the Pashmina!! LOL!

First Steps on the Yarn Diet One of the things that helps put my stash in perspective is looking at this blogger`s accumulation. She shows it on her blog, all 45 projects`-worth of it. As you move the cursor over the pictures, it will give you the yarn name. I tried to estimate the # of skeins, and I came out somewhere around 350. These are mostly Jaeger and Rowan yarns. Oh, the pain in the purse!! http://craftywench.typepad.com/photos/have_yarn_will_knit/index.html

Benne: So glad you`re able to post again. I am so sorry to hear about the back pain. I had problems, pain and headaches from my back for over 20 years, mostly due to being an accountant (or so my chiropractor said!).

I hope that you will be able to be patient while the healing goes on.
