Thanks Everyone and More Challenges!
|
Just my 2cents, but for combos, perhaps consider these: a tropical, a flower garden, the Eileen greens, something woodsy(pick up the v popular red maple), a gathering of blues, and something with naturals

Bryspun is making circs!!! Ann will you be offering these?
|
My LYS carries the Bryspun straights and dpns, and this week received a `demo` circular needle. Stephanie let me try it out. The cord is extremely flexible, and the points are nicely sharp. It seemed to me that the points were `grabbing` at the yarn, which was wool. But for laceweight yarns, this would be a plus, I think.

Sorry for the unclearness. No, there`s nothing rough about the needles or the tips, and I like my two Balenes and esp my Denises for the point tips. I meant to say that the white plasticky whatever they`re made from isn`t slick. The wool I was swatching with (unknown - LYS has some for testing needles - didn`t slide easily on the needle part. Again, I`d expect that was a big plus with laceweights, huh?

Such temptation! The Austermann Mayfair is in many lovely summery colors, and the patern is a beautiful mostly-lace pullover. But I`m on a yarn fast - pattern only with yarn..waahhh!

New Book
|
I don`t remember when I learned to crochet from my mom, but it was long before I learned to knit. For me, some things are better suited for crochet, especially afghans, just because I can do them more quickly. I`m glad that I`m bi-crafty, especially because trading off can help ease the hand pain I sometimes get from too much knitting. However, there are many more truly awful things done with crochet than with knitting. There`s a blogger called Stitchy McYarnpants (http://yarnpants.blogspot.com) who has quite a collection of items she calls The Museum of Kitschy Stitches, things that should never have been made. The most recent post is April 25, and if you scroll way down, you can see the archives. Hilarious!!

Left handed knitting--

Is there a good link to instructions for `knitting backwards`? I`d like to give it a try.

A life ends

Oh, Benne, I am so sad for you. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that it is some small comfort to you that he will be helping others to live, even as he himself has gone.

Pictures of Bryspun circs
|
Grumperina is a very good reviewer; we`ve been online friends for a long time. I may have mentioned that I`ve demo`d these circs, and my LYS has immediately ordered the whole selection! There`s quite a discussion about these needles on the About.com Knitting forum at this addy http://forums.about.com/ab-knitting/messages/?msg=20045.1

I`ve been searching for a shawl pattern for the next few days
|
Do you have Cheryl Oberle`s Folk Shawls book? Or the Best of Knitters Scarves and Shawls? I`m not very familiar with shawl patterns, but perhaps you haven`t looked at these.

Benediction
|
Across all the miles that separate us physically, we can only send our concern, our caring, and our hopes that these will help you to bear the sorrow you are feeling today and in days to come. And our cyber-hugs that we hope will be of comfort, too, as Daryl has so eloquently written.

Dear Bets, I am so sad to learn of his passing. We care for you and hope that our messages of concern from across the miles will be of help to you as you deal with this sorrow.
