CatBook Mom Thanks! Umm, I didn`t think to mention that this has not been blocked... *blush*.
About the color, I picked it for my DH and then offered it to him with a couple of options. I just knew he`d choose the DTeal, which will really bring out his big baby blues!!

Was Just At The Hospital! The photos are just beautiful, Eileen! The `fecking wee` coat is an heirloom-to-be, and the blanket is just wonderful. A New Zealand friend of mine taught me the term `gobsmacked`, and I really think it applies, for the love and care and jillions of stitches that you all put into this blanket!!

Classic Elite Cotton Newport Last summer I bought some Newport from Patternworks, so I wonder if they might still have some. I can`t get on the website right now; some server problem, it says. I checked the colors I`d bought from them, and none are your color. ;-(

Flower Basket Shawl Help Since so many of you have made this shawl in such beautiful yarns, I`ve decided to tackle it. There`s a Shetland shawl knitalong (the Kerry Blue design from the Interweave Traditional Knitted lace Shawls book) that`s started up on the About.com forum. I`ve suggested that some of us, who don`t want to take on a 5-foot-square laceweight project, start up our own little KAL with the FBS. Would you experienced FBS`rs mind if I ask for a bit of help and advice along the way? I`m thinking we`ll be starting this in a couple of weeks, although I`ll have a hiatus for the Salt Spring trip.

Must Just Share A Quick Ditty About The Blanket... ROFL at the Kitty Nightclub!! I love the picture of Rappy at early kittenhood in the Archives; how old is he now?

We have two long-haired all-black cats. Well, you`ve seen Midnight in the felted kitty bed. It doesn`t even need for the cats to get ON the knitted things for me to be finding black hairs in the stitches. I`ve been working on a baby-yellow blanket, and gee, do those black fibers show up!!

I hadn`t thought about Febreze! Great Idea!!

Oh my goodness!! Does this mean you got to skip the morning sickness? How great! And of course it`s wonderful about the new baby. Right after I finish the sweater for Jonathan, I`ll start on one for you - let me know what colors you`d like. I do know that pink is not on the list!

Flower Basket Shawl Help Thanks. I was able to get our printer/copier to enlarge the graphs, so I`m sure that will help too.

Hope you`ve rested up from the frantic knitting episode with the borders for Jonathan`s blankie!

Flower Basket Shawl Help Thanks! That`s a very good suggestion, especially for newbie chart-readers like me!

Flower Basket Shawl. KnittingGeorgie, is that you? If you click on the Search button above and use `Flower Basket Shawl` for the message phrase and change the dates to 1/1/2004 (the pattern was in Interweave Fall 2004 issue), you should get lots of entries.

Also, different weights of yarn can have the same number of plies. I know that the US system of classification may be differently named than what you have in S Africa. If you click on `Products` above, and then on `Yarns`, there is a Yarn Search (it`s an underlined phrase) that will let you search by yarn weight, which is expressed in sts/4". Fingering weight is 27-29sts/4", sport weight is 24-26sts/4". Does the yarn you are considering have a stated gauge, or have you swatched with it?

elann sample skeins The sweater sounds like it will be beautiful! I got the bag of violet samples, which ranges from very pale to deep, dark shades. I`ve been thinking about working it with the one skein of Quechua I have, also in purple, but your point about using a neutral is ingenious. Now, what `s in the stash like that????Hmmmm....

beautiful shawl This is truly a beautiful shawl! I love the color. So please tell us how many extra repeats and how many skeins of the Baby Cashmere.

I`m joining with a couple of other knitters from the About.com knitting forum on a Flower Basket knitalong. Actually I suggested it since there are so many gorgeous examples here in the Elann Gallery. So I`m really interested in any tips you might be willing to give me.

Eileen I was able to find the first 3 B Walker Treasuries in hardcover editions on eBay, for less than the current paperback versions. I just had to be a bit more patient, but I set up an ongoing search and found them all in a month or two.
