Duck Chat

Sorry that the little one didn`t make it. Your description of your stroll with the ducklings and their finding refuge at your feet is cute and funny. We`ll be looking forward to hearing about the new batch of eggs.

OOHHH! The Wool Peddler`s Shawl is one of several I`ve marked as my favorites in the Folk Shawls book. When I get to that point, I will surely be looking to you for "Help, please!"
BTW, the photo of Miranda the Destroyer is just too cute!!

The new Knitter`s is in!

About the cover `sweater`, I immediately thought of the TV show, "Dynasty" - something that Krystal or Alexis would wear, with matching turquoise cowboy boots! (No offense intended to anyone with cowboy boots, OK? LOL!)

Interesting that we all seemed to get a `western` feel for that jacket.
BTW, Benne, I used to have cowboy boots, too (10 yrs in Wyoming) and I still have my Dingoes from 30 yrs ago. Used to live across from the parking area for the Laramie rodeo; the `belles` had everything to match - hat, boots, belt, saddle blanket, cooler blanket, etc.

LYS Finds
|
I am really looking forward to seeing how the Roses yarn works up. I saw it at a pricey LYS, but they didn`t have any swatch of it. SO pretty, even in the ball.

Success at Avoiding More Yarn! Yay!
|
My LYS is celebrating its 1st anniversary this month, and they wickedly put a bunch of yarns on sale at 15%-25% off. Well, I stopped in yesterday; after all, it`s my yarn hang-out. The 25% off is on scarf or carryalong yarns. The 15% off was on a lot of neat yarns, like Optima and some Adrienne Vittadini yarns. But none of the yarns spoke to me, not one word-hurray!

Best Superwash Wool
|
I haven`t used it myself, since so far all the mothers I`ve done baby things for are not the sort that will give the garment better-than acrylic care. But one of the very best knitters that I know online always recommends Baby Ull from Dale of Norway.

OK, I folded, but just a bit. I bought ONE skein of yarn to trim a current project. One. Skein.

The Peaks!!!!!

Oh, yummy! Ah, Benne, I have some lovely mohair that I bought a while ago. Do I recall that you had posted some directions about making mohair shawls with nice lacy patterns? I`m going to try really, really hard to ignore the FOUR different gorgeous purples - Ann, this is nearly cruelty to a new member of YSA - Yarn Stashers Anonymous. *sigh*

Pond`s or not?
|
No Pond`s cold cream here. I have had rosacea for many years, so my skin is very sensitive to most `clarifying` liquids - no alcohol, no witch hazel - which includes Clinique. When I wore makeup every day to work, I used the mildest Clinique soap for cleansing. I still use the moisturizer.
Due to un-fixable quirks of our plumbing, it takes a long time to get warm water to the bathroom sinks, and a cold-water face wash at night is not fun. A year or two ago I `discovered` Ponds`s moist cleansing towelettes, and I LOVE them. I get 3-4 packs in a bundle at Costco, although Savon carries them too, but more expensive. These are very gentle but thorough. The add-water towelettes from Olay and others are good too, but again, the cold water.
