droopy tanktop w/Filatura Di Crosa Brilla Yarn Hi there,
I`m in Boca Raton, FL, NOT the knitting capital of the world. Too hot. Although we do have a lot of retired people here I guess I could ask. Need help please.
I knit a tanktop with this lovely yarn, but it gets longer and longer every minute I wear it. The top just droops and is loosing its shape. Any suggestions? The straps are getting longer and longer.
Thank you so much
PS: Any knitters in my area that would like to knit together?

Desperately seeking I have two balls of this yarn in green, orange, yellow with dye lot 9552 10
If you can`t find your color, maybe you can work this one in with your project?

droopy tanktop w/Filatura Di Crosa Brilla Yarn Hi there,
yes it is drooping due to the weight of the yarn. I don`t have sleeves, pretty simple design, it just doesn`t squeeze together, even when I was blocking it. I could have stretched it into a mini dress.

droopy tanktop w/Filatura Di Crosa Brilla Yarn Darla, I would use a sewing needle and work the straps, neckline and armholes?
Thank you, Carola

looking for form fitting sweater advice If I want to knit a short sleeve top/or sleevless top, that is stretchy, somewhat formfitting, good for hot southern days, am I looking for a particular type of yarn like "always cotton" or "merino wool", OR am I looking for a particular type of stitch like a wide rib? I am a loose knitter, so I do a swatch and go much thinner on the needles, but it still seems that all my tops (other than acryclic ones which I did as a crocheter) seem to lack the tightness and elasticity I am looking for. Thank you

looking for form fitting sweater advice Alana, I will try your suggestions, both to knit smaller (and longer as I`m tall) and also to dry existing illfitting sweaters. I`ll follow up in this discussion string if it makes a difference to my current droopy Filatura Di Crosa Brilla sweater.
Thank you, Carola

looking for form fitting sweater advice Thank you for your advice. I`ll check out those patterns and I think doing lots of ribbing, even adding some elastic, will do the trick too.

looking for form fitting sweater advice OK, the sweater was soaked in hot water and is in the dryer. I`m keeping my fingers crossed. I`ll let you know what happens.

looking for form fitting sweater advice Hi, I printed off the two patterns off the Berroco site. They are truly gorgeous. Unfortunately both use discontinued yards, but I`ll look for the Cascade Fixation.
Thanks for the advice.

droopy tanktop w/Filatura Di Crosa Brilla Yarn I have not been able to find the elastic, but did add two rows of single crochet around the arms and neckline. It really pulled it together. Thanks for the tip.

looking for form fitting sweater advice That yarn did not like to be in the drier. It didn`t shrink at all, or contract, just fuzzed. What a mess.
Not a problem, I`ll know not to use this yarn again and have learned a valuable lesson. I am still pretty new at this, so everything is a learning experience. for me.

quaker stitch Hallo,
I am German as well and could perhaps help you with the instructions. If you want to email them to me here, I`ll translate them into German if you like.

Silk City Perle Cotton Oddballs I purchased two 1.1 lb cones of this mercerized cotton and can`t figure out what to do with it. How do you get it off the cones, as it is hard to work with on these heavy cones? Also, have any of you used this product and what did you make with it?

Mexicali Baby Ole Hi there,
I started this baby sweater from Knitter`s Magazine Summer 2003. It calls for Fortissima Colori 1000 (by Schoeller Esslinger). This is very fine weight yarn at 30 Stitches to 4 inches. I much prefer to work with a thicker yarn and was hoping I could substitute a thicker yarn, knowing that this would make the sweater larger too (as it is, the poor baby won`t fit into this 6 mos sweater as I can`t get the darn thing finished
My question is this:
I want to use this yarn I love, Winter Cotton, which is 15 stitches to 4 inches. Can I just go ahead and use this, or do I need to make special calculations for the number of stitches to cast on? I don`t want the sweater to be as small as the pattern calls, so if it comes out larger with this thicker wool, I"m ok, just as long as it is in proportion.
Thanks so much for your help.

Valeria di Roma Capri cardigan Hi, I ordered a book from elann, the Spring/Summer 2002 edition of Mondo Valeria. I am trying to figure out the cardigan, model #6, but am having trouble. They are calling for a "ribbing stitch", which is described as "knit 1 st *1 thread, knit 2 joint sts*, repeat from * to * and end with one knit"
Can anyone explain this stitch to me? Sometimes the translations from the international patterns are not as clear and don`t seem to be translated by a native english speaker. (I am german myself and laugh at the patterns that are translated from German into English, as they often make no sense.)
Thank you so much.

Mexicali Baby Ole Thank you, I shall try this.
I have the sweater halfway done in the Fortissima and find it much too thin for a sweater anyway. The picture in the magazine looked very different and thicker somehow.

Valeria di Roma Capri cardigan If you need some german translations I`d be happy to help.

It is a really lacy look, so your suggestion should work. I`ll try and advise.
Thanks, Carola
