Hey! Cheryl purse dialed me the other day and we had a good talk. I was supposed to tell you all hi but I had to go to Nashville yesterday and didn`t get it posted.

Cheryl, I sure do wish we could get together and I`d love to see your shop in the old cotton mill, I love shops in historic buildings.

Take care, wishing you great success with your shop, hope you can get your shoulder fixed soon.

Hugs,
Benne

Nice Luna, SK! SK,

The shawl and your sister-in-law are just beautiful! You do know that you are my knitting idol, right? :)

NY State Fair I knew it, I just knew it! Your knitting is so beautiful, you deserved that win, Eileen! I am so happy, you must be fair chuffed with that blue ribbon. :)

I would be proud to have knitted any of those sweaters and I think the color, traditional pattern and gauge really played a big part in the first place selection. The neck is a little off, wonder if the judges tried it on and stretched it out of shape??? ;)

XXOO to you for your well-deserved blue ribbon!

Checking in or the ongoing flapperdoodle failure saga So, I went to Nashville last week, took a nap and had another `procedure.` The gastro guy was sort of encouraging and sort of not encouraging-he thinks I will have spasms and pain permanently and I had more strictures but he can keep dilating them. Thom`s idea of dropping by the auto parts store and getting a radiator hose for a replacement is starting to make more sense. :)
My PCP is prescribing a different med to help with spasms. I`m on one now that has increased my bustline faster than a plastic surgeon with a drawer full of implants. That old Robin Williams routine comes to mind about what happened when his wife was expecting. I made a reference to that to my doc and his ears turned red and he was laughing pretty hard, so I think he knew what I meant. ;)

I haven`t been doing much but I did make some peach, plum and lemon preserves and strawberry/lemon preserves. They look so pretty and the can lids pop and seal and I feel like I just accomplished something really huge. :)

I am also taking care of an injured baby female hummingbird. She has an injured wing,no flight feathers on that wing and tailfeathers on her right side. I hope she will regrow them. If she doesn`t, then I won`t keep her in a cage. The wildlife rescue group told me that I had a better chance to save her than they did and the state wildlife agency gave me permission to try and save her so we will see what happens. I will probably have her all winter. She`s so very tiny.

Checking in or the ongoing flapperdoodle failure saga Thanks for the wishes, everyone! You can see the hummer on my flickr page. http://tinyurl.com/mnvvft
I`m pretty worried about her because it looks like the lower part of her wing is missing, I thought I saw some little tiny feathers, but I`m not sure now. I really want her to be able to be wild and free again. I was hoping she would regrow feathers in time to migrate but that is not going to happen now.

I`ll try and get a blog post together about her and let you know her story. I`m pretty worthless these days but I am proud of my preserves. I went to Mass tonight and took some to my priest. So, I gave my doctor some yesterday and my priest today. I told Thom I was taking care of those that take care of my body and soul. :)

Those who have met me can reassure everyone that I am in no danger of becoming buxom so no new wardrobe will be needed. HA!

Debbie Bliss Astrakhan I love this yarn, I don`t need to order any tomorrow, but if one likes a soft boucle yarn, it is so nice. I like the machine wash part and the colors are really pretty. The yarn is much prettier in person, I think because you can really see the texture so well in person. I see a couple of colors I might need to get just a couple of balls of for a pretty hat. :)

Nieblings As Shawls? Eileen, I think a Niebling is a great idea to knock the judges` socks off next year. Several people have won state fair best of show and blue ribbons knitting Niebling patterns. Depending on how you knit the patterns, type of yarn, number of repeats, etc. many of them can be worn as shawls. Niebling designed every shape under the sun practically, Lyra can be knit as a circle or a rectangle in the pattern. Take a look at the projects in the Niebling group on ravelry at projects and you`ll see shawls. Niebling did design some shawls but the patterns are mostly out of print and hard to find and very expensive.

I got two white boxes today That sounds like fun white boxes but they always are. What color of Rowan chunky did you get for BB`s sweater? I bought claret and could spare a couple of balls for you. My project would be smaller and I probably won`t do a full size sweater anyway. I am really enjoying wearing boleros and cropped cardigans.

Canapone might be a little difficult to maneuver on suchh small needles for the Lyra. I did okay with it on Swallowtail but the nupps were definitely a little trickier. The Canapone softens considerably with knitting and washing really makes it soften. Maybe swatch with a little of it on small needles and see what you think. I think the laceweight merino would be wonderful for Lyra too.

I love Lyra in both shapes, SK, the design is just so beautiful. For a tablepiece, I think I like it round, for a stole, probably square would be more wearable. I cannot wait to see how your Lyra will look, with your knitting skills, it will be breathtaking. Take a look at the different Lyras on ravelry, you may like one shape better than the other. The round is a knockout. If you knit it as a rectangle, at row 113, I think it`s 113, you will have a line on the pattern and start the corners. The ravelry group members in the Niebling group have made several posts about knitting it square because some found the pattern confusing. If you have any questions, let me know and I`ll try and find the posts for you.

The Fleur-de-Lis scarf is lovely, SK. It`s so beautiful and I love the story about your inspiration for the design. That`s one thing I love about your patterns, they come from your heart. I missed the lino chic, I think I was sick when it was offered but I saw pictures of it and it looks beautiful for lace.

I want to make your smoke ring for my doctor`s wife. I have knit him a hat and scarf so I think his wife needs something. :)

I have preserves for you and BB, your box is almost ready to mail. I keep adding to it and it keeps getting bigger and bigger. :)

Knits from the North Sea Jamie, I would love to go to Mexico with you! You could teach me Spanish, spoken with a southern accent, course. HA! I saw some beautiful weaving and huge rug looms in New Mexico, just wonderful designs and artisans.

Starting Small Tubes She is a fantastic teacher! I love reading her posts on ravelry and her blog. I have several of her blog posts bookmarked too. What a wealth of information. I need to go look at this, I have been looking at some of the critters and baby toys lately. I want to make some bears for the Mother Bear project and that made me think about other critters and dolls for the police, fireman, hospitals, shelters to give to children.

Tomorrow`s Sneak Peeks Tomorrow`s yarn is so lovely, reminds me in construction of the beloved, discontinued Rowan Cork. Now that was a fabulous yarn. The Kashmir DK is really nice, luckily, not my shades up tomorrow. Whew! ;)

I got two white boxes today SK, I might be able to get a flat-rate on your box, if I can I will send you some preserves. I want you and Bb to know I can cook. HA!

I will come cheer you on in the KAL, and knit if I can get something finished first but don`t send me your yarn. I will get into my stash and find something.
What shape is your mother`s table? Either shape, round or square will be so beautiful. I wish I could see her face when she sees it. :)

I don`t blame you for not wanting to dig a new well, especially at that price! I`ll keep my fingers crossed about your well this winter. It is too hard for you and BB not to have water, and I worry about you carrying water, SK.

I still have hummers, maybe one from your house stopped by for a drink at my feeders. :)
