Eileen - did your DH write this?
|
Eileen, You`re babbling hysterically! Where did the idea of insect/arachnid parties come from? You are obviously out of your head with fear and need a good cuppa and some serious knitting for yourself to calm down. It may even call for a yarn order from elann to get a grip. ;-} Benne

Arghhhh!! Laundry Crisis - help please
|
Wow Patricia,
I`m printing this out! One thing to add to your list: fels naptha is recommended for washing antique needlework and especially white pieces. Other substances may yellow or damage and weaken the antique fibers. My antique dealer DMIL has used this for years. Benne

Thank goodness we`ll all be presentable in our new undies! I too am bringing my digital camera. As far as projects, I am in a total dither! I`m more worried about that than clothes. I think I`ll bring two. One idiot project (sometimes they all feel that way with me being the idiot)lol Benne

So what are you working on THIS week?

I think MacChick and MacChicklet need to make an emergency visit to your paradise and she can give you a hands on demonstration of her techniques. :-} Benne

We have water bottles!

Okay Theresa,
I think Eileen and I can venture a couple of guesses about our water bottles, right Eileen? You`re being such a good den mother, does this mean Eileen and I are the out of control brats running amok? lol Benne

I think you are all having some kind of group lingerie hysteria going on and need immediate intervention by way of a weekend trip to Maryland so you can wear your panties on your heads with Eileen, Theresa and me. lol Benne

That`s exactly right Eileen! No way Theresa and I are missing one blooming thing if you conk out on us. We are on a mission for yarn related stuff and tender Irish lassies who wilt in the heat can either get sheared and cool off or spend the day at the bottom of the barrel!P Benne

weather in maryland

Thanks for the info Pat, I am now going to completely repack my suitcase. Out with the sleevelss, in with some jeans and cotton tops. Now I am in a total quandry about my flip-flops. Good for rain, not good for cold toes. Decisions, decisions...At least it will be shawl weather. I wonder if I will be torn apart by the Baltimore Ravens mob if I wear my Titans windbreaker? That`s okay, I`m tough, I can take them! lol Benne

Just got 2 new books!
|
Bets is right Beatrice. Ann seems to come up with what all of us are looking for at one time or another. Don`t you just love looking at the Rowan books? They are so well knitted and photographed, it`s such a pleasure to look at them. I don`t have any Rowan but I`ve bought some All Season Cotton that is one the way for Chippy in an older Rowan book. Mustangjudy knitted it and posted it here and I fell in love with it. Since she won`t give me hers, I guess I`ll be forced to make my own. lol Benne

Lace weight handpaint type

Koigu makes a gorgeous laceweight but it`s rather pricey. I drool over it but I haven`t bought any. Let us know what you decide on. What are you going to make? Benne

Corinna,
That stuff did go really fast. I am being really really good (okay, semi-good, I did get some Splash today) so I can go nuts in Maryland. The prints and tweeds were flying out by 8:30. Benne

Washing and Blocking
|
I was really glad to see these posts. I am ready to block my casual cables (Cactus like Jean`s) and I was going to ask what all of you did. I really like steam blocking and I think after I sew the sleeves in, I may wash the whole thing. I know how much difference it makes in sewing to press your fabic pieces as you go before sewing so it only makes sense to do it before sewing the sweater together. I think I`d better get busy, I`m going to need that sweater in Maryland this weekend. Benne

undies emergency
|
Bets,
I fear a comment like that would set this group off into total misbehavior just to see your DH with a pair of panties on his head (lol) but I can definitely see that threat gave him the upper hand with DDs. Parents are such an embarrassment when they`re just breathing much less wearing undies on their heads. ;-} Benne

Hi, welcome to the site!
Judging from PatW`s weather report above I`m betting it is going to be cold and damp at night. Bring you silk longhandles, I think you might need them. Three of us are going together, Eileen. Theresa and I and we are going to meet PatW there. Have fun, stay warm and dry and maybe we will meet there. Look at the bio page and you can see pics of Eileen and me. Theresa is blonde but her pic is not up YET. Benne

Ooh - Tahki Spash!
|
I too had trouble with a Tahki pattern. I ripped, reripped, rereripped, gave up and it is in my WIP basket for when I feel like fighting it again. I`ll probably end up doing what makes sense to me and ditch the pattern. Benne

I cannot get my act together I am so overwrought with excitement about the trip. I DO have all my knitting needles packed, yarn, patterns, books and project for the plane but I have NO idea what I will wear except for my new underwear! I need a sedative! A drink! A valet! Benne
