araucania shrinkage factor?
|
Eileen, Thanks for the info. With that in mind I cast on and started on the Sally Melville pattern. I was so paranoid that it would stretch that I used the smallest size only to discover, ain`t no way that half I was knitting would cover half of me, so I ripped, then I got messed up on my rib stitches after several phone calls, so I ripped. Then I cast on again and started the rib, let`s hope it works out this time. Sometimes it seems like there are projects that just are pills from the first stitch. I`ve found it usually happens on the simplest patterns. Go figure. I think the Teflon is a good idea. I have to be able to bleach most of what my DH wears- bibs would be easier. lol Benne

Lisa,
This lady is priceless! I agree, I never want to stop learning or trying new things. I`ll bet she could teach me how to play bacarrat. lol
As for Mr. Rogers, wouldn`t you know his mother would be that type of person. I wonder if anyone ever finished her sweater. Do you know if she made Mr.Rogers` sweaters? I`ll bet she did. Benne

okay, what`s your take on the new offerings?
|
I got mine today and started humming "who`s zooming who?". I love that yarn and all the colors, then I started singing "splish, splash, I was taking a bath" I want it all too. Don`t worry I haven`t lost my mind. I think it`s that late afternoon drop in blood sugar or maybe because it`s Friday or maybe I really am crazy. I think I vote for the third possiblilty.lol Benne

Jean, We get a ton of those and with all the junk I keep you`d think I would still have them, but no!! I`ll start saving them for you, between home and the office I should be able to send several. You know you`re making the rest of us look bad with all these little presents you`re always sending. But don`t stop.lol Benne

okay, what`s your take on the new offerings?

Don`t worry Theresa, Ann makes it very easy for us to splurge on yarn. Here`s the info from elann about vouchers.
$2.50 USD credit vouchers are earned when you purchase books or subscriptions. They are designed to refund you $2.50 USD off every $25.00 USD of yarn purchased, and they will be automatically applied to your yarn purchases at the checkout the next time you order (i.e. the order which follows the order that puts the vouchers on file).
You can read all about this in the info/help section. You know you NEED a subscription. We need your input on the yarns too. Am I enabling you enough yet? lol Benne

Bets did you see Pat W`s knitting?
|
She made the coolest dragon coat, talk about licking the page, I was practically licking the screen. I wonder if I could electrocute myself like that? On 3/31 under Marion`s post "WOW" it tells how to go to Pat`s site. You`ve got to take a look at her designs. I bow to talent. And about that coat, it`s me! it`s me! Benne

Purse and basket of slippers
|
Les, I love that purse. I printed the pattern of course. I happen to have some lovely wool that wants to be felted into something beautiful. Seriously, I think I bought at least a couple of skeins of almost every color of Uros. It`s DK but don`t you think it would work if I doubled it? I couldn`t find your basket of slippers. Where is it at knitting.com? I copied the address you listed but I wasn`t sure where to go after that. Are you sending pics of your bag? I think you should make the kids cook on the weekends whether you`re felting or not. lol Benne Benne

crochet hook question
|
Corinna,
We`ve missed you. Great, you conquered the Nicole! You could try the "I" needle but unless you crochet a lot it is trickier controlling an even gauge more loosely than in knitting. At least, that`s what I find. I used to crochet lots and needle size is pretty crucial. Just work carefully watching to make sure all your stitches are even. It really shows if they aren`t, especially on ooh-la-la undies! :} Benne

Purse and basket of slippers
|
Hi Les, I thought maybe there was a pic showing a basket with slippers that you were aspiring to. But no, you`ve actually done it! It`s a great idea and I wish I`d known about it when my girls were still at home. Your colors sound wonderful for your purse. After seeing your purse and Jean`s purse, I know what I`m doing with my Uros (after I get through with the big stuff). I`ve got a jacket in mind for some of it.
I have been racking my brain on how you could get your boxes past the mailman. I considered friends, the closest Canadian Mountie station (you could tell them you were preventing a domesestic dispute by having your elann shippped there),having the postman set them out at some prearranged hidden spot close to the store where you could retrieve them, (this would,of course, require that you buy the postman`s silence with a sweater every year). lol Benne

Jean,
DH said he will go to hardware store and get grommets for you and I will send them with a bunch of CD`s. We get lots of them at the office and we send out CD`s for promo purposes. E me your address (benneferrell@mindspring.com) and I`ll get them out next week to you. DH seem really interested in this project of yours. Tell me how you``re doing it so I can get DH to make me one. He made me a big spindle for cone yarn, bless his little heart, but I`d like a smaller one. Don`t know that I want him to knit but I sure like him making knitting tools for me.:} Benne

It just occurred to me that maybe you could use the Esprit to tighten the neckline. It looks like there`s a blue that might work. What do you think? Benne
