Airplane Knitting/Trip Update
|
I`m so glad to hear you didn`t have any trouble with your needles. I`m going to the Maryland Wool Festival to meet up with Eileen and Theresa (I`m going to Maryland, I`m going to Maryland, I`m so excited!) I have threatened insurrection if anybody makes a move towards my needles and as I told Theresa, if they take my needles, I`m going to demand that everyone else give up all their pens and pencils. DH swears he will go my bail. lol Benne

Ooh la, that Ola
|
That yarn looks yummy and I am not even a ribbon yarn fan. I had to have the scarlet to wear to the Titans games. I really like the free pattern too. I may use it for some of that soft Aracaunia (sp?} cotton. The neckline is very nice and drapey and since turtlenecks make my claustrophobia kick in, I think I`ll like it. MacChick, this could be scaled down for MacChicklet and be very cute on her just like everything else she puts on, and especially since her Mom is the queen of making up patterns. Benne

Les, you are absolutely right! After my "I`m not cooking declaration" he fixed MY supper. He kept a very low profile all evening and was EXTREMELY nice. I think he read the Husband Handbook and decided he`d follow rule #1 which is, when you`ve screwed up bigtime, keep your head down and your mouth shut. LOL Benne

1000 Sweaters - a great book!
|
This book is a find! It does exactly what I end up doing most of the time, change the neckline, change the sleeves, you name it. This is a book for all of us who think a lot of the patterns we see are, well, ugly or totally unsuited to women who do not want parts of us peeking out or hanging out. I cannot wait to try it out on my Uros and Brilla. Okey, Ann you said you were getting yourself a copy of this book. We all want you to knit! Benne

Shui Kuen - your bio

Shui Kuen,
Your biography was very interesting and I definitely understand your love of living where you do. I wish I could see your pool. It all sounds so serene and lovely. Thanks for sharing it with us. Benne

valuable knitting guide - I found it

The yarnbarn.com has the Valuable Knitting Information book Spring 2004 (41st edition)for $31.00 and the 4oth edition for $40. That`s the lowest price I found. I think I paid $20+ for mine (Spring 2003) on sale. Benne

Aracaunia cotton - fabulous!
|
Okay, we all know what you`re up to, you`re knitting for everyone else with that saintly glow so you don`t have to knit for YOU. You know when Theresa and I get you alone we are going to do a little knitting brainwash on you so you will knit something for yourself, like that White Lies vintage jacket. You knit so beautifully we are all waiting with bated breath (and no smart remarks about our breath from you missy) to see your jacket. You owe it to all of us to get going on something glam for you so we can all drool over it. Benne

Aracaunia cotton - fabulous!

Oh Judy, just do it. I took Bets advice and bought yarn to get myself over that computer meltdown. It`s also highly possible that it saved DH from a Benne meltdown. lol Benne

Ooh la, that Ola
|
Gosh Bea, I don`t know, they both look good. The Katia Ola has a liitle more yardage and uses slightly larger needles. I also like the cotton and viscose mix but the description of Valeria di Roma sounds really nice. I think we need the help of someone who has seen them both. Does that mean we should order both! lol Benne

1000 Sweaters - a great book!
|
Hey Bets,
I think I read that review too. It is sized for DK and the size range is Small (34), Medium (36) and Large (38). Those are actual body measurements. The finished garment sizes are 2 inches larger than the body measurements. I know it`s late and my brain is filled with trying to get gauge on Brilla to 28 st/4inches but I don`t know why you couldn`t use worsted with these patterns if you wanted a larger size or just add inches or pattern repeats to the pattern in DK and make it larger. Does that make sense? I think I need Marion`s help. :} On some of the patterns I would eliminate some of the shaping on the body to make them less fitted but that`s easy enough to do. Some I would lengthen the body on but I do that all the time anyway. I do like it and I like all the sleeve and neckline variations. You should probably take a look at one before you buy so you`re sure you want it. It`s pretty basic stuff but I think I`ll also use it to decide on a style of pattern for a particular yarn. Even if I end up using a different pattern I think it`s a good idea book. Hope this helps. Benne

Yes, poor baby, you can whine too. Isn`t that what we`re here for? I know you must be exhausted. Those long days make you tired all the way down to your bones. Can I offer you a little advice about this weekend? Under no circumstances let anyone, and I mean anyone, near the computer until you are through with the taxes. I suggest loud snarling and growling if anyone gets within a 6 foot perimeter. lol Benne

valuable knitting guide - I found it

Bets, I`m not sure how far it goes back because there are no dates but I see Pingouin yarn that has been discontinued for years listed. The book no page numbers but I`m guessing about 200-250 pages. If you want to see it, let me know and I`ll send it to you. If you have vintage yarns you may want to see my ancient one from the 80`s. The new one says you will not need to do any updating because they merge the old info with the new info. Benne

okay, it`s official-MacChick is the enabler of the day
|
MacChick, you are killing me going on about the Esprit cotton. I have resisted and resisted but now I just have to try this stuff. I think my DGD (11 soon to be 12) just has to have a watercolor camisole out of the purple mix. She`s smaller than a 32, probably a 30, and has just started wearing a bra (doesn`t need one though) but with the stretch factor I think I can make a 32 and it will fit her for a while. Okay, now are you happy MacChick? ;} I`m sure I`m not the only one who will hit the order button because of your rave review. But then we know we can trust your judgement. :} Benne

Oh, that Esprit! Marion, did you get yours yet?

Oh great, Marion, more patterns! I love it! Do you think I could get a copy of your DK drop shoulder Gracious Cables pattern? I insist you let me pay for postage. I mean it, no arguing young lady. E me your address and I`ll send it. Notice I`ve already assumed you are going to say yes, impudent little wench that I am. lol
BTW, you are runner-up for enabler of the day. I think you and MacChick must be getting payment from Ann in extra skeins. LOL Benne Benne
