No B2-
The coonskin cap would be for the little punkinhead in the margin, my DGD. SHE needs the coonskin cap VERY badly, and when I knit for her, I am also knitting for prospective brothers and sisters. I am also thinking about a few of those Peruvian style helmets in wild colors because they`d be so much fun! Yes?

Hi-
I`ve noticed that if you subscribe to a magazine like VK, your name eventually ends up on the mailing lists of catalog companies anyhow.

What do I ask for besides World Peace? Suggestions, please!
|
That`s the book with the quote "there lives within me an invincible summer" right? I read in in 1989 while I was TDY in a little rathole in Italy (not to be confused with someone`s spider hole...!)
Tell your husband A copy of Unexpected Knitting (which I conned from my husband-I don`t care if I GET anything else) Something gold and shiny....like a few pairs of gold-plated addi turbos A few single skeins of some freakish yarn-Trendsetter Safari, Crystal Palace Light Pipe (ok, THAT`s cool!), some Nepalese recycled Sari Silk Some of that nice fingering weight angora blend from here TWO gift certificates-one from here, of course, and one from (email me for the other good source!)
AND Bruce Springsteen has a new boxed set out! (he he!)
If Santa hubby gets you another copy of the Stranger, mail it my way.

R-
My husband got Deep Purple tickets. (Echoing from the peanut gallery "they`re still ALIVE?" And free reign for techie crap at Office Depot. I suggest the big red tool chest from Sears. Or some gadget.

HI- If you`ve wanted that tote for months, ASK for it. It`s for portable projects, right? I, for one, carry my stuff around in old Walmart bags, my lunch sack, whatever, so YOU will look stunning and sleek.
Out of all the things in the Craftsman department, I actually WANT the laser leveler...my daughter and I were watching the commericial and BOTH of us said "oooooh!" Poor thing, she`s just turned 18 and is getting her first Craftsman item-the tire inflater/power source/emergency light, because she`s had so many flat tires! No glamourous clothes, so sorry girlie, welcome to adulthood. (Trust me, she`s getting plenty of warpaint to go with it, so it`s not a total bust!)
There is nothing wrong with your husband`s tool club card (ok, well there are a few sly comments to be made, but I`m not touching that!) Being married to a creative person is good---at least they understand your need for string, just as they NEED wood, or topsoil, or a hemi. Same type of obsession, just different categories.

What knitted gifts are done now?
|
Ok, NOW you can start bragging---
What`s ready to be wrapped and placed under the tree? I am not done with my MIL`s sweater, but it may have to wait. Everything else is in the margin (see left) What gifts are ready to go?

The Knitter`s Christmas
|
I received this in a newsletter from Yarn Heaven in Arlington Texas.
KNITTERS CHRISTMAS EVE
`Twas the night before Christmas and all around me Was unfinished knitting not under the tree. The stockings weren`t hung by the chimney with care `Cause the heels and toes had not a stitch there. The children were nestled all snug in their beds, But I had not finished the caps for their heads. Dad was asleep; he was no help at all, And the sweater for him was six inches too small, When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter I put down my needles to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tripped over my yarn and fell down with a crash. The tangle of yarn that lay deep as the snow Reminded me how much I still had to go. Out on my lawn I heard such a noise, I thought it would wake both Dad and the boys. And though I was tired, my brain a bit thick, I knew in a moment it must be St Nick. But what I heard then left me perplex-ed, For not a name I heard was what I expected, "Move, Ashford! Move, Lopi! Move, Addi and Clover! Move, Reynolds! Move Starmore! Move Froelich --move over Paton, don`t circle `round; stand in the line. Come now, you sheep will work out just fine! I know this is hard; it`s just your first year, I`d hate to go back to eight tiny reindeer." I peered over the sill; what I saw was amazing, Eight wooly sheep on my lawn all a-grazing. And then, in a twinkle, I heard at the door Santa`s feet coming across the porch floor. I rose from my knees and got back on my feet, And as I turned `round St Nick I did meet. He was dressed all in wool from his head to his toe, And his clothes were hand knit from above to below. A bright Fairisle sweater he wore on his back, And his toys were all stuffed in an Aran knit sack. His cap was a wonder of bobbles and lace A beautiful frame for his rosy red face. The scarf `round his neck could have stretched for a mile, And the socks peeking over his boots were Argyle. The back of his mittens bore an intricate cable. And suddenly on one I espied a small label, "S.C." was duplicate stitched on the cuff, And I asked, "Hey, Nick, did you knit all this stuff?" He proudly replied, "Ho, ho, ho, yes I did. I learned how to knit when I was a kid." He was chubby and plump, a quite well-dressed old man, And I laughed to myself, for I`d thought up a plan. I flashed him a grin and jumped up in the air, And the next thing he knew, he was tied to a chair, He spoke not a word, but looked in his lap Where I`d laid my needles and yarn for a cap. He quickly began knitting, first one cap then two, For the first time I thought I might really get through. He put heels in the stockings and toes in some socks. While I sat back drinking scotch on the rocks. So quickly like magic his needles they flew That he was all finished by quarter to two. He sprang for his sleigh when I let him go free, And over his shoulder he looked back at me, And I heard him exclaim as he sailed past the moon, "Next year start your knitting sometime around June!"

Dear Web-master-
Did you change the configuration? When I go to post a message now, I hit a snag....normally, I get a pop-up that says "don`t hit......blah blah blah or you`ll repost your message." Now I get a 500 series server error, and then have to fumble around to get back here. Anyone else having trouble?
