anysoldier dot com
|
Cate, people in our neighborhood have been running monthly collections for our service-people and using anysoldier.com, since last summer. We have received many letters of thanks that the organizer sends to us via email. Basically, nothing that is sent over will get wasted and we have been surprised at the speed of delivery. It is a great effort for a group (like a knitting group?). As you mention, there are specific guidelines for clothing. Some other requested items include pre-packaged snacks, toiletries and magazines which could be packed along with knitted things.

Gauge with Austerman Wow
|
I am wondering what others have found with the gauge of Austerman Wow. I think I used size 4 or 5 needles and had a nice fabric weight at 22 sts to 4" -- finding it difficult to imagine the 13 sts to 4" with needle sized 4-6 as mentioned on the listing. What is the fabric like at the looser gauge? Thanks, Anne

Gauge with Austerman Wow

Actually, my only experience has been swatching the sample you sent, I keep counting the swatch, and I can`t see how I would get to 13 sts per inch, I was wondering if there was an error.

Austerman Wow question
|
I posted on this question too, I was getting about 22 sts per inch with the recommended needle. You will see someone from Elann answered the message to say that the ball band definitely says what they have quoted. I swatched the sample, and can`t see achieving the gauge on the ball band.

samuel charis kit or just the pattern for it
|
I remember reading several years ago that the company did cease operations after the founder passed away. That doesn't mean there isn't someone who has the pattern which you may find eventually! Good luck.
