I peeked into my cupboard yesterday and spied a can of black-eyed peas, so I am good.
As I was born in Chicago, I have to ask the burning question-does it matter what the form of the peas is for luck? If I form them into patties, do they count? DH hates beans and rice.

Happy, happy New Year to everyone.I remembered to buy some blackeyed peas yesterday to I`m good to. My mother was from Texas; I only learned of the tradition in 1960 when I spent Christmas in NW Texas with relatives. May it be a good year for all! Jamie

I think the black eyed peas can be in any form. Glad to see some others who go with turnip greens, can`t stand the smell of collards cooking. I took my leftover peas, rice, some canned tomatoes and a sprinkling of chopped greans and italian sausage and made soup. It was better than the originals. Happy New Year and Happy Knitting to all.
