That`s very pretty in that soft green. One of the girls at Alice`s retreat whipped one off while we were there. She made several for Christmas prezzies the year before and they were well received!
It`s lovely as is.....wonder if a looser gauge would make them less ruffly?

That will make such a nice gift, Sandra! I saw one like it at both Banana Republic and Ann Taylor this week. You`ve got your knitting needle on the pulse.

Love it, Sandra! The ruffles look perfect to me. I need to get that pattern out of my shopping cart and onto the needles. Thanks for reminding me that I want to knit one of those too!

Thanks everyone!

Les, I was wondering that myself! I tend to like a firm gauge so a knitted item will wear better but in this case the ruffles could do with a little more relaxation. Another thing I was thinking was the pattern has you triple the number of stitches when you start the ruffle row...you go from 200 to 600 stitches. Perhaps instead, doubling, going from 200 to 400, would be enough, and also make for less excruciatingly long rows at the end. I haven`t given up on taming this scarf yet though, going to wash and pin block it tonight, and see what happens. One funny benefit of the stiff ruffle is when I wrap it aroung my neck, the ruffle edges perpendicular to each other kind of lock in place, this scarf`s definitely not going anyplace!

That`s really pretty, Sandra. I like the ruffles in chunky yarn it would go pretty fast, may still have time before Christmas for one. :)

Today I am wet-blocking it and the ruffles have become less thick, I think due to the curved edge stretching out..it is now 58" long by 7" at the widest point. Can`t wait until it is dry and I can try it on again!

Naomi, the pattern is available as a Ravelry download for I think $3.50 US. I give a thumbs up to the pattern, it`s easy & quick.

Nancy was knitting a deep blue one in Malabrigo. She just silently and effectively whipped it off between e-mails, snort!!

I forgot to post how much I love Shui Kuen`s My Valentine scarf, it`s so pretty and delicate looking. The KAL should have some amazingly lovely Valentines. :)

Thanks Benne, Barbara and Marie!

Blocking update...forgot about superwash`s tendency to get all loosey-goosey when wet! I mooshed it back more into its original shape when changing damp towels underneath since I didn`t like the big gaps between the stockinette columns and it is now measuring 50" long, as specified by the pattern.

Sandra, I love it. I usually am a one and doner with patterns but I have made several of these and love them. I have done most of mine in handpainted yarns but I love yours in solid. The last one I did was in the Noro Niji I got here. Instead of doing the ruffle per instructions I crocheted it (3 triples) in each cast off so the ruffle was in color segments. That worked well but I may have liked it better with 2 triples.

Thanks, Bets and Amy!

Amy, thanks also for the info. I was wondering if it would work in varying color yarn so it is good to hear that it works out well. I`d like to try your crochet edge option sometime too. Off to check your scarves in Ravelry :-)
