I have begun work on a Tangled Yoke with the Dolce I got last month. It swatched beautifully and washed beautifully, so off I went. This morning I separated the plies of the ends of two balls in preparation for splicing and discovered that while ball #1 is 3-ply, the center end of ball #2 is 2-ply and considerably more loosely spun. The outer end of the second ball is 3-ply.
Anyone else? I should point out here that I am not completely insane.

Hello Annie,
I`m wondering if the yarn right at the center of that one ball was a flaw caused by the mill cutting the end of one ball before moving to the next. Our customer service desk is closed today because of the holiday, but if you email them directly (customerservice@elann.com), they`d be pleased to resolve the problem for you tomorrow.

Thanks, Ann.
As it turns out, about a half to a third of the ball is 2-ply. It`s fluffier and more loosely spun than the rest of the ball. It was knitting at a larger gauge than the 3-ply. It was knotted mid-ball to the 3-ply.
I`m off to email customer service right now! Thanks again.
Annie
